I really enjoyed this issue. Every panel of it is used wisely to build characters, and build plot. Hats off to its author and artist.
For example, Night Thrasher is a character I always thought looked cool. This issue adds a lot of depth to the character. His current conflict makes me want to read more.
The same is true for other characters in this comic too. Taskmaster has always been a fan favorite. The author and artist here do a great job in reinforcing his role in the larger scheme of things.
In fact I think Marvel has a great job in Dark Reign and Siege in positioning characters’ roles in its universe. The power levels of characters, like the immortals/gods, are consistent. In this way the Siege itself is a grand feat. And reading these tie-ins to get a closer look at the events of the big battle is fun.
This issue also fixes my one big complaint in Siege #2. It finds a way to flesh out Maria Hill’s sudden awesome rocket attack skills, and at the same time develops Diamondback’s story further. Diamondback’s internal conflict also adds to the lowly villain Constrictor. I mean when else will Constrictor be compared fairly to Steve Rogers?
This comic even takes time to reinforce the gravity of Sentry’s actions in Siege #2. Every panel and line of dialogue builds and adds. It is well done and well laid out.
