This is a pretty comic, and it's well written. The voices are all right. The art is great. Yadda, yadda, yadda. It's Young Avengers written by Heinbern and drawn by Davis. As though I'm going to say any different.
Now that's out of the way: Sam Wilsom has a daughter? He has to have a daughter, because, here's the thing: if Sam Wilson doesn't have a daughter somewhere in the Marvel universe, who is in her tweens or early teens, then Eli's wife is more than a dozen years his junior. And they have kids who are also about twelve. Let's assume that The Falcon doesn't have a daughter somewhere that we don't know about (since he's never mentioned having kids). This means that he's going to have one in the future, and Eli is going to marry her. If they wait until she is eighteen, then Eli will be upwards of thirty If they have kids right away, and wait until they're post-pubescent (which it looks like they did, from the pictures) to bring them into battle, then he'll be pushing fifty. And so will the rest of the team.
With those numbers, this comic starts to look like like "Young Avengers" and more like "Avengers of a Certain Age."
Other possible explainations I've come up with: she's The Falcon's neice (he has a bother and sister, so that's possible), but his sister's married and his brother is a gamma irradiated super-dude. Seems unlikely. Time stream madness: they met in the future. I could buy this, but it seems like an easy and obvious throwaway line.
Heinberg has, as far as I can tell, in one comic, made us choose between believing that Sam Wilson (The Nicest Guy in the Super-Hero Business) is a deadbeat dad, or that Eli is either a creepy time-stream jumpaing cradle-robber or is a getting too old for this shit. Any way you slice it, it's unsettling. Damn unsettling.
Though I kind of like the idea that 80% of the super-heroes out there have kids we don't know about. Avengers Academy and Young Allies had lots of super-villain kids, why can't Tony Stark, Matt Murdoch and Wolverine have left little surprises all over the country? No reason. No reason at all.
