This is the issue where “The Enemy Within” crossover finally came together for me. The story seemed easier to follow than past installments, maybe in part because the artwork really levelled up. I like the streamlined look of Matteo Buffagni’s characters (sort of like a less-gritty Sean Murphy perhaps?) and his layouts were playful without being too showy or confusing. And the colors! Bright and bold without getting garish — with all the different characters and locations, Nolan Woodard made this look like a nice big bag of M&Ms, and I mean that as a compliment.

I don’t think I’ll stick with this book after the crossover, but I think , and it gets me pumped to see how Kelly Sue DeConnick will wrap this story up and carry it forward in Captain Marvel.

  1. Yeeesh. My proof-reading skills have gone to hell lately. I understand why we don’t have an edit button for posts, but maybe we could get one for reviews?
