I reeeeally didn’t want to like this comic.

On top of being mostly cold to Bendis’ Avengers work of late, my wallet is being raided by the overwhelming volume of quality titles these days. Honestly, I don’t know why I even bought this comic. But what can I say? I’m a fanboy and I’m gleefully excited for the Avengers movie, spectacle and all, and this book has the Avengers cast for the film. Basically, I’m a sucker.

But Bendis and Bagley are certainly not a team to scoff at. After all, their ultimate Spidey run is my favorite run ever on a superhero title.

So I just read this book and… I loved every freakin’ panel of it!! This is an Avengers title pure and simple. It’s EXACTLY what an Avengers story should be in my eyes (unlike most of the Bendis Avengers story I’ve read–save for Avengers Prime and the first few arcs of New Avengers)

So I will definitely be forking over money for this next month…

Damn it.

  1. Yeah, I hear ya! my weekly comic run is average $50. This book was fun, great to have a book with the same members “more or less” from the movie but, is this book supposed to go hand in hand with the movie? how does it fit in the whole marvel universe right now? I mean Green Hulk has his own personal issues he is dealing with right now.
