Over the last week or so, I’ve heard many comic fanboys wondering what the point of Free Comic Book Day was. It’s an event meant to lure in ‘non-readers,’ yet the majority of the participants are long time readers. This title shows just why FCBD works for old and new fans of the medium, for it was through the event that I got introduced to my new favorite series.

Atomic Robo fires on so many different cylinders (get it?). It’s fun, but still grown up feeling. The plot never takes a back seat to the humor. The book is filled with references to science fiction, horror, and history. I don’t want to ruin any reveals, but you do meet a couple of famous real life people in the book. I was tickled in a very awesome way while reading. The art matches this whimsical vibe note for note. I can’t find anything wrong with this book.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent

  2. Yep, this issue was great.  Great review.  I’m glad FCBD worked for you.  You should go check out the first two Atomic Robo series, they’re great as well.

  3. Yep, those two trades shot up towards the top of my to buy list.
