ASTRO CITY THE DARK AGE BOOK THREE #4 (OF 4)

At this point if you are not reading Astro City
I am at a loss for what to say beyond: READ IT ALREADY DUMMY! Ok, ok seriously
though this is a fine conclusion for part three of this epic that closes out
the chapter while also making clear what threads are likely to dominate the
conclusion. There are some fun returns and as always some fun new characters
introduced as well. As a long time reader I find it a lot fun looking at the
make-up of some the various teams that show up and wondering, knowing what we
know of the “present”, how exactly they will end in their future
forms. As for the main story of the Royals, I am completely invested in how it
is going to turn out since it has always read as a bit of tragedy in the making
to me. There is also a lovely diversion from the norm halfway through the issue
that gives both writer and artist liberty to stretch them selves a bit. As always
what Astro City excels at more than anything is
taking the noise and fury of big superhero epics and translates it by way of
the normal, human perspective. This is the first issue of Astro City
to come out since it was announced the book was going monthly again and there
can no question that many pleasant days of comic book reading lay ahead in our
futures. Highest Possible Recommendation.
