ASTRO CITY THE DARK AGE BOOK THREE #1 (OF 4)

The opening page of this issue is striking.  Fantastic contrast of colors, and well placed and well written narration.  It’s been a few years since I read an issue of Astro City, but this one pulled me right back into the world.  I was occasionally thrown by Busiek’s habit of flipping between modern age writing, and early silver age dialogue, but it was supported by such a strong plot, that I was able to get back into the rhythm fairly quickly.

My one issue with Astro City is the covers.  Yea, Ross is great, and he’s done epic work.  But Anderson’s pencils and Sinclair’s coloring are such a fantastic combination, that I’d like to see it right on the front.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
