This book was my POW for 3 reasons.
1. Character moments: Every character had one. Armor: mid-fight jokingly apologizing for hurting the soldiers, Scott: for telling the X-Men that "I don't have time for this, X-Men." Emma: "Shall we just get on with this, Darling?", Hank: His reaction to these mutated children was perfectly done. Ororo: Taking the time to comfort & talk with the mothers & for "You always did have have an astonishing skill for making life too difficult for yourself". Logan: Well, he did what he does best.
2. The art: I'm quickly becoming a Kaare Andrews fan. Once you get past "boobies for boobies sake", his stylized versions of these classic characters are some of my favorite is awhile. I'm sure this also has something to do with Uncanny being drawn by Dodson & Land, but his work seems fresh and inspired.
3. STORM! STORM! STORM!: Ellis' take on Storm is right on. She finally seems to have a place in the X-Men again and has regained her backbone. Ellis & Andrews Storm is reminding me of the Claremont & Silvestri Storm that I grew up with...and that's a good thing.
I'm glad I took a chance on this mini. It's definitely been worth it.
P.S.: Doesn't it make perfect sense that the children are Warpies?
