In my mind, Aquaman was always a joke amongst superheroes. He never was taken seriously in pop culture and I never even thought in my life that I would be reading an Aquaman issue, even less an on-going series!

With the New 52 and Geoff Johns behind this series, I can fairly say I’m hooked to this version of Aquaman and every month its in my top 5 comics by DC!

This new story arc starts off with a bang with Aquaman being head over heels in a FUBAR situation that might cost him his life, the narrative is told through flashbacks as a dehydrated Aquaman tries to put all the pieces of the puzzle in place and man, does it worked for me! I was thrilled to discover what the mysterious device was and how he got himself stranded in the desert falling out of the sky.

Ivan Reis’s art is AMAZING in this issue. I prefer when the lighting is bright as opposed to the abyss where the Trench were, his art is clear, detailed and dynamic; pure eye-candy!

If you were hesitant to jump on board, this issue might be your chance to reconsider, it is brilliant!

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
