I know this review is a month late, and I am eagerly awaiting tomorrow to pick up the next issue. Scott Snyder’s has a new story arc, but I would recommend to any new reader to pick up the trade before jumping on, because it definitely a mystery issue. There are little details which have been established to set up the world.  He spends issue 6 introducing and establishing the character Cashel McCogan, and the character seems like a straight forward good cop.

After establishing the art style in the previous issues, I was kind of expecting more from the work produced. The drawings are excellent great gestures and designs, but I wish the Cashel character didn’t look like Skinner Sweet. While reading the issue,  I kept thinking about “What going on with Skinner”. I wish there were more environments fleshing out a 1930’s Las Vegas architectural build. This does not diminish my enthusiasm to read the next issue, but I hope future issues do not follow these absence of details, and not become just all about style.
