I have been looking forward to this story for some time now, and I’m not sure why. I have never been in love with the idea of Peter and MJ together. I don’t hate them as a couple either, I’m just ambivalent. Also, I only got back into reading Amazing Spidey with Spider-man 24/7, after ignoring the book for something like 5 years.

This issue gave us some intriguing, and sometimes poignant, character moments. The art (old and new) was very nice. Joe Q still has it, and I love Paolo Rivera’s clean yet moody style. I’m sure some purists will have a problem with the integration of old Amazing Spider-man pages with new art. This move might be especially irritating within a story that is basically re-writing Spidey’s history. Personally, I felt it worked within the story, but I would have rather seen Rivera just draw all of the flashbacks.

Joe Q. Crafts a nice tail and gives us a taste of classic Spider-man heart break. Not brilliant but not bad.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
