The first thing I asked myself upon opening this comic book was, “why does the artwork look like an issue of Tales From The Crypt from the 1950s?”  Surprisingly though, it didn’t seem to bother me.  It was very much an improvement over last week’s sloppy shit all over every panel Deadpool issue, and so much easier to follow then those upside down too much to the left, too much to the right panels in ASM The List that also came out this week.  Peter Parker looked a bit over-proportioned  in a couple of those in the apartment with Michelle Gonzalez scenes, but I didn’t have any problem following what was happening or straining my eyes just to understand like a couple of other Spidey comics I just mentioned.  I think I would actually enjoy reading an entire arc with this style of artwork, I wouldn’t suggest keeping it around at all times though.  Definitely not.

I love it when Mark Waid kicks off a new story arc for Spidey.  Waid always brings in, or brings back, something interesting to the table.  Usually at a time when I’m getting fed up and almost considering dropping the title until the solicits mention something I’d find more propelling again.
Electro is fed up with the way things are in the world just like everybody else who fits in that middle class bracket and it makes good characterization.  You know there are probably a thousand people out there who have been screwed over in the same ways, just didn’t acquire electric superpowers from when it happened to them, yet wish they did so they could get their revenge.  The guy kind of reminds me of Cole from the Infamous video game but that wouldn’t be a fair assumption because this villain has been around for decades even if he hasn’t always been drawn up the same way on paper.  I can’t wait to see what he does next and I hope Dexter Bennett isn’t going to be too happy about it either.  This is definitely going to be a story arc that will get the masses buying ASM again.  I’m sure there were a bunch of folks who dropped off during that whole Return Of The Clone Folks nonsense but now is the time to comeback to ASM!!

I didn’t even bother trying to read that crap in the back after about three and a half pages.  I would’ve given this issue a five instead of four if it weren’t for that trash back there.  Shit, I could draw better then that.  My cat probably could also.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
