I know this has been talked to death, but I only make the reference for a point:  One More Day was a contrived, highly annoying plot development that, while being truly awful, led to some really amazing spider stories that wouldn’t be possible without it.

The last issue of Spidey & the Fantastic 4 had a neat plot device to carry the story along, but the last page reveal of Mayor Jameson made me toss the issue aside with disgust.  It’s so contrived, and, well, it’s been done before, hasn’t it?  But, after reading this issue, sigh, it was worth the annoyingness.  This was a fun, well-written story that couldn’t have existed without the plot point.  And the art is “neato, burrito” (customer quote…accurate).

  1. thanks for the spoiler! i love when people give no warning..

  2. That spoiler’s been out for a week now and has come up on this site and others since then.  It’s been a fair amount of time.

    Haven’t picked my books up yet, but looking forward to this as usual.

  3. I’ve gotta agree with Spidey, if you’re talking about the last page of an issue you should mark your review as spoilerific.

  4. The "spoiler" was fomr the last page of last issue. Also, this issue was great, and the last page happens to be tje most ridiculous and amazing last page reveal in forever.

  5. Be wise, spoilerize.

    I disgust myself.

  6. Yea, everyone.  I’m taliking about the last page of the last issue, not this one.  So, not a spoiler.  I mean, technically, I totally spoiled One More Day for you, too.  Sorry.

    @elcapitanqwerty: Ridiculous, certainly.  Amazing?  I dunno. I really liked this issue, but, man, really?

    @BC1: Hope you enjoy it!
