Louis Riel aside, Canada has a history of some pretty lame rebellions. The Upper Canada Rebellion culminated in what was essentially a tavern brawl that lasted 20 minutes. Then there was the Pig War of 1859, where an argument over livestock escalated into a bloodless border war with the United States. Alpha Flight's insurrection has proven a lot more successful, and the stage is quickly being set for a really interesting conflict.
After freeing Her Majesty's Disloyal Opposition from a concentration camp last issue, Alpha Flight has enlisted Taskmaster's help to whip them up into an army and take on the Unity Party. Taskmaster's banter with Puck in this issue is fantastic, as is all the banter in general -- Pak and Van Lente are finding really good voices for these characters.
Meanwhile, I'm intrigued by where things are going with Aurora. I expected them to build up to her eventual betrayal a bit more gradually, but now -- TWIST! -- it seems that Shaman already knows her other personality's asserting itself, and is making a gamble on it. Not only am I happy that they're using Aurora's split personality in a thoughtful way to serve the plot, but this is also a CLASSIC Shaman move. He's always been the guy who withholds information from people because he thinks it'll serve the greater good. Usually his gambles blow up in his face, but for Alpha Flight's sake, I hope this one doesn't.
Random observations:
I have never seen metric conversions in a comic book before. This is a first.
I didn't think Snowbird could deflect bullets.
Aren't the Bank of Canada gold reserves at their headquarters in Ottawa, not Toronto?

Great review! Enjoyed your history lesson. Totally agree with your voices comment, Pak and Van Lente really get the voices right.
Your insight on “CLASSIC Shaman move” was interesting, I hadn’t thought of it that way. Cool.
Finally, I like when they power up Snowbird, I think she should be Superman/Thor class powerful. Wish she would just become classic North mammals and Sasquatch only, I don’t like when she’s a TRex.
