It’s been a few years, so you can be forgiven for forgetting that Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray has done funny before, back in the solo adventures of Power Girl. Those same muscles get used again in the adventures of Power Girl’s former Justice League International teammate Booster Gold in the pages of All-Star Western. When I say “funny”, this isn’t to imply that things are all fun and games for Booster and All-Star Western’s headliner, Jonah Hex. But despite the pit of bodies swarming with buzzards, the bloodthirsty thieves, and the unforgiving elements themselves, it’s impossible not to laugh at DC’s odd couple of Booster Gold and Jonah Hex.

Art wise Moritat is completely on point. Booster still looks super heroically goofy and Hex and the Old West still look grizzled and forbidding respectively. As for his landscapes, there’s a scene early in the book set in a defrocked church that I must have stared at for a good five minutes both picking out details and marveling at the composition.

Next issue concludes the crossover and I have to say, I’m gonna miss seeing these two together because this really has been a fun ride
