  1. If you didn’t like vol. 1, definitely don’t get vol. 2.

I really liked All Star Supes, but the reception it’s gotten has always seemed funny to me. I really like it, but is it really so great as justify THIS much accolation? Like two issues of it came out in 2008, yet it’s been up for (and won) a few "Best ONGOING Series of 2008"-type awards. Really? There isn’t THAT much substance to this title.

People fawned over issue 10 of this series in particular. I liked it too. But many of the fawners also claim to detest Morrison’s "difficult" and disjointed work, like Batman RIP. But issue #10 of this WAS "difficult" and disjointed! I’m convinced that people just see Frank Quitely’s name on the cover and subconsciously trick themselves into liking the book no matter what. "Oh, THIS is the Morrison I like! Not all that weird, difficult, highfallutin gibberish!" By the final act, this series WAS weird, "difficult", highfallutin gibberish! There’s some sort of weird disconnect between what was actually on the page and what the collective fandom thought it saw. Again, I really liked this series, but other people act like this is the Holy Grail, then in the next breath they say they don’t like a lot of other things Morrison has written–and they name things that are very similar to A.S.S.
