Astonishing X-Men #28

It's almost unfair that this series has to be called Astonishing X-Men, and stand in the shadow of Whedon's run.  This is an entirely different X-book.  It doesn't need to be witty, or dialogue driven the way Whedon's was.  And, I think Ellis is finally starting to turn this title into his own.  At this point, I still don't love his run, but it certainly has the potential to be great.

Turns out The Chinese X-Men know a person in common with their North American counterparts.  And it doesn't sound like it's a good association. 

Apart from the Whedon shadow, one of the things that's bothered me about this run of Astonishing is the artwork.  I'm not saying Bianchi is a bad artist.  He isn't.  I just don't really like the way he draws characters.  That said, I love the way he lays out a page.

I really, really want to love this series again.  And, while I hope that the next issue is the issue that blows me out of the water, I hate the fact that we're four issues into this run, and I'm still not wowed.
