I’ve been watching a lot of Top Chef lately.  My favorite challenges in the show are when they are given a set of ingredients, have to come up with a way to make them work together.  And I see that the chef has peanut butter, jelly, and bread, which is great because everyone loves peanut butter and jelly, but somehow the chef ends up making macaroni and cheese.

Paul Cornell is making macaroni and cheese out of peanut butter and jelly.  And it’s goddamned delicious.

Pete Wood’s art didn’t wow me.  Heavy lines, and very plain faces.  I’m also not sure why they want for thick black frames in this story.  It takes place in the Antarctica.  White, white, white.  I imagine the black is supposed to make the white pop.  It did not.

I will be shocked is this cover isn’t chosen as one of the covers of the week.  Reiss drew the hell out of this.

Lemire and Gallo’s backup is great.  There are also some thick lines in Gallo’s art, but they really work here (his pages bumped my rating of the art from a 3 to a 4).  And Lemire’s story is tight and very entertaining.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
