While I initially wasn't expecting much from this issue when I first read the solicits, the preview got me pretty excited for it.  I'm just pumped to have Zod back, especially as a complex character who's not just "evil" (though Superman seems to think otherwise).  We know Superman will be proven right in the end, but it'll be interesting to explore his motivations throughout World of New Krypton.  The complexities involved with there being a whole planet of Kryptonians alive are what really make this a treat.  I haven't read all the old silver age stories where Superman goes back in time to Krypton, but I got the sense that every time he went, Krypton was always this Utopia.  This story is proving much more interesting than that.  The part with Lombardi discovering the hidden meaning behind Jimmy's code was a bit of a stretch, but that was probably the only low note of the issue for me.

There are also a lot of questions still up in the air at the end of the issue.  We know Mon-El is going to survive, but how?  If all Kryptonians are banned from earth besides Superman, what does that mean for Supergirl?  And I'm still interested to know who Nightwing and Flamebird are going to be.

So here we have the setup for the new status quo for the next year.  I know there's been a lot of complaining about how Superman's titles won't have Superman in them, but somehow that doesn't bother me too much.  First off, we have two great writers in Rucka and Robinson on the books, so I have complete faith that they can make the more minor characters interesting.  Then there's the World of New Krypton series by both of them that will have Superman, so if you only care about him, you can get that title.  Then there's Secret Origin out this summer by Johns and Frank, so our favorite creative team will still be working on him.  So basically, we have 5 different Superman titles to look forward to (including Supergirl) over the next year.  As a huge Superman fan, I'm pumped.
