This was a good Brainiac story, let me get this out of the way. I've had my gripes with it in the middle of the run but overall it is a soild story that has made Johns and Frank look like a perfect pairing. The only thing that I havent liked about this arc was the 'true' reveal of the man himself. I'm sorry I just dont like this new interpretation of Brainiac, I would've love to see the cocoon Brainiac we saw on the first two issues of this. It would've made for a better run of ideas for the character. Having him as a big brute and almost twice the size of Superman is just plain ridiculous in my eyes. Okay so he's still the genius everyone is scared of, but overall I am not scared of a guy who clearly works out and drinks protein shakes to get that body.

Alright enough with the complaining, this was a good issue! The fight in this was awesome and overall everything wrapped up nicely. I like it Brainiac is a germ freak and seeing his reaction landing into the swamp was pretty funny. Johns writes a hell of a good Supergirl and I am slowly getting used to the idea that she will be redeemed as a good character again. Overall it's the punch to the gut that is the demise of Pa Kent that got me. He died because he saved the woman he loves and he was a hero. Okay so he died because of a heart attack, but he got the attack because of Brainiac and I'm sure Clark is going to be hell bent on making Brainiac pay.

Soild issue, soild arc; overall it's going to be another great trade to get when it comes out in that format. My only gripe, again, is the new Brainiac and I think Johns could've done something more with this reboot of the character.
