When you take this arc as a whole, there certainly seems to be some issues with the pacing. I thought last issue was a little too fast, and therefore lacked focus. But, as a whole, this arc had been picking up pacing speed from issue to issue. The problem here is that with all the increased momentum, we kind of hit a wall. Nothing here was bad, and what happened certainly does leave you wanting whatever comes next, but it was all just very abrupt. You might remember last issue, the Daxamites were supposedly going to go into hiding, train, and bide their time to be able to effectively use their powers against the Sinestro Corps and Mongul. Yeah, no. That didn't happen. Instead, they attacked and, in just one page, Mongul decided he had a better idea for a planetary base and retreated. It's not the only moment that wraps up too quickly, but it is probably the worst offender in this issue. Again, that doesn't mean things aren't interesting. Where is Mongul going? Oa? Mogo? Earth? It's wide open. The Guardians, proving once again that they're the biggest jerks ever, mandate the execution of all prisoners. Can we expect them back as Black Lanterns? There's fuel for the fire in this issue, but the actual content works more like flash paper. I enjoyed the ride, as I always do, but it just didn't seem on par with the usual deliberate pace and strong characterization I know Tomasi can deliver.
