Final Crisis #5 (OF 7)

I'm not sure if all of my exposure to Grant Morrison is making him easier to understand or if this issues was just... easier to understand.  Basically, this issue is more about moving the pieces into place.  You have Granny Goodness in the guise of Kraken captured by the Green Lanterns after an attempt to add the green light to Darkseid's mass of power.  You have the remnants of Checkmate (prior to Resist?  The timeline is a little confusing) get word from Mr Miracle and the Super Young Team that the Metron symbol is the anti-Anti-Life (along with Barry Allen's manly kisses!).  Waller and Montoya get together as the next generation of OMACs, called BIOMACs are readied to fight back.  Mary Marvel fights a bunch of guys and is passively revealed to be Desaad.  We get to see Libra again, who is punishing Calculator for aiding the heroes with the Unternet, but the subtext assumes it was actually Luthor.  Kalibak and his team of cats ride around on some dogs.  The Green Lanterns attempt to storm Earth even as all time and space in and around the planet are being warped to great degrees.  Darkseid reveals himself, as does Metron and his Rubik's cube.  It is revealed that the falled Monitor's drawing are symptomatic of his mutiversal awareness, and thus the things he draws have been becoming real.  And thanks to Metron and his cube, it seems the Monitor has awakened as Access (or possibly Harbinger or Pariah from the first Crisis).  Anyway, I enjoyed the story, and I'm sure there's more below the surface, but I would have been happier with a little bit of Barry Allen, or if the last page teased the Batman thing, though he was mentioned.  As I said, this issue was more about putting the pieces in place for the conclusion... and while it was well done, it's hard to get really excited by set-up, even if my mind races with the possibilities.
