Batman #686

Although it's difficult to judge a story like this until one reads the whole thing, I trust Gaiman implicitly and I'm sure that once we know what hell is going on here, we'll have a fantastic arc.  What we have so far is an extremely well-crafted story, with great, vintage-looking artwork in a tale that is precipitated directly from Morrison's run, playing on the duality of Batman's sanity.  Is Batman insane, or is he the most sane person there is?  All this was missing was someone shouting NOW DO YOU GET IT at the end, and you would have something truly ripped from the pages of Batman RIP, though Gaiman's work is presented in amuch more clear and linear matter.  For now, who's to say what exactly is happening, and I'm not about to start postulating theories until I get my hands on the next issue.  Just the same, the possibilities and what ifs raised by the stories within this story are fascinating, and I'm really interested to see where this is going, even if this issue doesn't truly stand on its own.
