I haven't picked up any of the Countdown Specials, but when I saw Kamamdi on this weeks list, I immediately pulled it. This is the continuing story of "The Last Boy on Earth" story from Countdown 06 and 05 (which served as a prequel of sorts.) Even though this is a reprint, I was immediatley enthralled with the book. Kirby's art is great and leaps off the page. I was lucky enough to see the original splash page in a museum a few years ago, and it is breathtaking. The writing had good flow and still holds up today. If you really enjoyed Countdown 06 and 05, you should definitely pick this up.

I bought it. Well worth the money as it is Kirby. I was really surprised at how much Kirby lifted from "Planet of the Apes" & "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" in the first issue. The remaining issues are great and wild, over the top, Kirby-style cosmic story & action. Man, he's got a real thing for giant-brained mutants as another one makes an appearance here -- "The Misfit". Has the entire run of "Kamandi" been collected?
