I have been loving JMS' run on Thor since issue #1. I really think his characterization of Thor is spot on. He explores both the serious Norse god aspects of Thor along with the less serious aspects. When Blake attempts to repair Mjolnir by taping his stick together, and Thor says "I don't think this will work," I giggled to myself. Wait, is it ok for a man to giggle?
I miss Coipel's art on this, and I will be sad if he is gone. I would be kind of ok with it if he was the cause of the delays, but I'm pretty sure it's all JMS' fault. The art was pretty good. I've seen Djurdjevic on Thor before, but I just loved Coipel so much. It will just take some getting used to.
Storywise, the only flaw this issue had was that of a first issue. It's all about the set-up, but sometimes the set-up isn't quite as much fun. Still, I can feel the buildup this new story is taking us. The threads coming together with Doctro Doom and Loki along with Thor's exile will hopefully link Thor up with Dark Reign and the Marvel universe proper. Also, Volstagg is my new hero. 'Nuff said.
