It's been said in almost every forum on the internet that
both Avengers titles have been lack luster lately. And while they haven't been
earth shattering, I still think they've been good and as Conor pointed out a
few weeks ago in his column, filler is just another word for story. This story
takes us back to The Hood and his burgeoning team of villains who have recently
discovered that a Skrull invasion is underway, though they have no idea the
full extent of it.
This issue
was my pick of the week simply because it took me by surprise. I was prepared
to love SI #7, the New Krypton special and Captain America.
For this one though, I figured it would just be an average book, just moving
the story along. But that last page, oh sweet lord that last page speaks
volumes about how big The Hood could become in the Marvel Universe.
The art and
the writing were an excellent fit and I would love to see more from Bendis and Tan
on the same book. They mesh well and I would love a mini from this team. If you
want a new angle for SI go and pick this up pronto.
