With these big Mega events running rampant through the "big two" you are getting some great stories hidden in the mix. I was not always a fan of Luke Cage. But like any character, it's whose writing him or her that makes them great. With Bendis writing Luke Cage, this character is slowly becoming a big time hero in the Marvel Universe. He is an nearly indestructible man, who can stand toe to toe with most Marvel heavy hitting villains and heros. But it's not when Luke is fighting that make this character so appealing. He has real-world problems. From his love-life to his broken relationship with his father, Luke Cage is a hero struggling to make it in the Marvel U.
If there is one big problem with these mega-events, is that they take all books and make them tie into the event itself. Bendis is throwing everything at us with Secret Invasion, and I admit that some of his back and forth through time is very tiring in the New Avengers and Mighty Avengers. But this issue was a nice breath of fresh air. It tied in nicely to Secret Invasion #8 and set up what could be a year's worth of back story for Luke and family. My biggest problem is one that a lot of posters had, and that is Hawkeye on the cover. C'mon Marvel, I even don't think he appeared in the book at all.
I hope with 3 Avengers books in the Dark Reign era, that Luke does not get lost in the mix.
