Deadpool #3

I have never been as surprised to read a book as much as I have for the second volume of Deadpool. The "Merc with the Mouth" really lives up the dehydrated title we have given this character in the past. To say that Daniel Way has done a great job NOT tying in the Secret Invasion letdown would be an understatement.

Although the cover is tailored to appeal to those looking for any venture to make Secret Invasion pill a bit easier to take - Deadpool in it's own way laughs at the idea of being invaded by a Skrull army by (spoiler alert) having Deadpool's clones turn on the Skrulls that created them and take out an entire war ship. Then to make it even funnier, Way ties in Deadpool's cancer cells as the turning point of story when they overdevelop and cause them implode. This is both funny and wildly clever.  

I think that most people are as disappointed as I am with the Secret Invasion debacle to date, and if you are looking for a refreshing take on the story without the heavy confusion of who is and isn't a Skrull, then Deadpool 1-3 is definitely the way to go.
