Secret Invasion #7 (OF 8)

I feel compelled to bring up ActualButt's argument here, that it may not be about the journey but rather the destination sometimes when it comes to story. I can't argue entirely, I agree with him on some level and often it is about the forthcoming changes, spec. in regard to EVENTS. But only with an analogy can I hope to provide a point regarding his theory. It goes something like this:

Cruisin down the street in my 6-4, jockin the (shit, wrong)

Ok, this is it:

Many cars can get you from point A to point B. The Ford Tempo will take you to school or work just as well as the Shelby Mustang. Given the choice, though, most people are going to choose the Mustang over the Pinto..

Did you open this to the splash page and feel a "wow" part your lips? I did. 

The exclamation was airborne before I could do anything about it. Even though I genuinely wanted to reserve myself and not act like I didn't see this coming. Did anyone not know this issue was going to be a prolonged fight scene?

High marks go to Mr. Yu, whom I don't normally swoon over. This might be his best work ever. Can't help but wonder why someone didn't tell him to ditch the scratchy shading sooner? Not that the scratches aren't there, but they're a bit less prevalent these days. Yu's panels succeeded greatly in capturing the magnitude of this battle. You get a 5, sir.

If you were looking for "hell yeah" moments, I believe you got 'em. The first of which had to be the arrival of Uatu. The second, deep down inside Clint's still Hawkeye. He got his bow back and it appears he hasn't forgotten how to use it. Third, the Skrull Queen is dead. I believe this means it's on - you'd better tell somebody.

We're left with a bit of intrigue as Luke and Jessica's baby has been handed over to skrull Jarvis. Not good. And the issue ends with Jan seemingly losing control over her growth powers. Sure, it's not horse-size dalmatians or time bullets, but it's something..

A couple of random thoughts:

(1) Howard the Duck and Wolverine are fighting nearby. How can we get these two together? That's a book I would like to read.

(2) There's a lot of commotion here, but will noone realize that Carol's missing?!

Secret Invasion #7 is hardly a Shelby Mustang; it's probably more reminiscent of the GT model. It is getting us to point B though. Thank Grodd this is coming to an end and hopefully Dark Reign will bring more plot relevance to the front as this series has certainly lacked in it.
