I'm enjoying this arc quite a bit, because Dr. Strange is interesting, the New Avengers are entertaining, and I appreciate the continuity aspect of the story. Overall, it's standard-issue Bendis gold.
The weird thing about this story is that I feel like they've sort of been telegraphing the new Sorcerer Supreme for months. When Tony Stark needs to find the New Avengers and tries to get past Dr. Strange's magics in his Sanctum-turned-Starbucks, who does he call? Brother Voodoo. When the Skrulls try to infiltrate Wakanda, who does it turn out they replaced? Brother Voodoo. I have to admit, I was sort of hoping for someone lower on the totem pole, but I don't think there was any question that the Eye of Agamatto was going to land on anyone other than Jericho Drumm.
Brother Voodoo is the person I thought the New Avengers were looking for when they first hit New Orleans. When they mentioned Hellstrom, I had to remind myself that the Marvel MAX miniseries from two years ago established him there and no way in Hell (heh) were they gonna let that guy be Sorcerer Supreme.
So, not exactly a surprise, and not quite as amusing as the previous issues of this arc, but still a damn fine book and the best title I read this week.
