So here we go...four issues in and we get moving ahead at speed. Not that I'm complaining, I actually enjoy the way Morrison sets everything up and then drops you off the edge of the cliff until the end where you expect to land in a lake, but instead you land on a pile of marshmallows. After saying WTF???, he deftly explains how the marshmallows got there and you feel stupid for not having seen it 3 issues earlier.
Anyways, I enjoyed this issue and I'm happy that FC is back. If you haven't read this yet, read Final Crisis : Submit before you read this. It's nothing huge but that's the order.
I swerved from my usual Final Crisis core book sliver cover and purchased the character cover this time. Come on, it's freaking Darkseid and he's back :-)
We get a much better explanation of how the Anti-Life Equation was distributed in this issue (just by e-mail seemed to be not enough) and we see that all of a sudden the heroes are holed up in their various Watchtowers fighting off...well, everyone.
Many of the plot points are advanced, Kalibak gets some new digs (and eats a Green Lantern's arm..ewwww), and a certain Green outfitted liberal gets some new headgear. This issue completely reinvigorated my love for this story. I saw it written somewhere online that this is a Mega-Event for grown-ups and Secret Inavsion is a mega-event for kids. I'd have to agree with this, Final Crisis makes you work for it and in the end I hope it pays off.
