There is no way to describe this book without referring to it's awesomeness. Flash Gordon has always held a special place for me, and this new revitalization from Ardden Entertainment has proved to be both interesting, over the top and, most importantly, fun.
In this issue we really start to pick up the pace, with Flash, Aura and the Lion Men joining forces; the Hawk Men staging a breakout of the flying prison; and Dale discovering that not everything is so lovely in the world of Ming.
The writing, as ever, is on the button, drawing me further in to the story. The art, on the other hand, is very lovely to look at, but the more I look at it, the more I notice the little inconsistencies... or, the fact that, occasionally the same face is reused several times at different angles. It's still wonderful to look at, but it does feel like a bit of a sucker punch. Also, I rarely comment on lettering, but the lettering on this book is wonderful. It's rarely inconveniencing the art, and it's especially good when Ming is speaking.
Overall, the book is fantastic, and with only two issues left before the wrap-up of the first trade, I'm looking forward to the further exploits of Flash Gordon and the potential presented in this first arc bodes well for the 20 issues yet to come.
Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
I really like thi series too. So glas to see it's back. It's just the right amount of laughing at itself and balls to wall action
