I love Samurai’s. So the idea of taking some of Marvel’s toughest characters and throwing them into an elseworld’s type weekly mini-series was an easy sell for me. We are brought into a world where these master-less Samurai’s or Ronin are out for vengeance for their slain master. This issue focused on Wolverine as an infamous Ronin who can’t be killed and we have a pretty fun samurai story. This isn’t a superhero book…they really just took the essence of Wolverine and boiled him down…made him more human, so we really didn’t see the Wolverine we know from the Xmen universe, and i thought that was a pretty good thing.
Coker’s art was really nice and reminds me a lot of Alex Maleev’s work. It had a dark and textural feel to it. I’m interested in seeing what happens next week.
