It’s been a long time since I’ve picked up a 30 Days Of Night book. I enjoyed the original Niles/Templesmith run and bought a bunch of the trades. Some were great, others were a poor investment of time and money.

While I wouldn’t say the cover is fantastic it’s stylized in such a way that I picked it up and flipped through it. The art looked good, and I saw Niles name on the cover again so I picked it up.

Turns out, we’re back in the vicinity of Barrow with characters from the original Niles run. Without picking up the five previous issues of this arc, nor having read any 30 Days Of Night books at all in the past three years or so, I fell right into the story.

I highly doubt it will qualify as Pick Of The Week material (if it does, Mark Waid, Jason Aaron, Robert Kirkman, and Jeff Lemire are likely to have had dinner with each other and come down with serious food poisoning) but it was a solid read if you’ve got time and money to kill, and enjoyed the original run.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
