Word Balloon Podcast – Bunn, Waid, Rucka, Slott, & Bendis Tapes, Part 2

Show Notes

On this episode of Word Balloon we bring you more press coverage of Marvel’s Next Big Thing calls, and conversations with some of your favorite creators.

From last week, you’ll hear writer Cullen Bunn talk about Captain America and Hawkeye #629, the new direction for the former Cap and Bucky title, starting in April, which will be a Cap and whomever monthly Marvel team up book.

Then editor Steve Wacker and writers Mark Waid and Greg Rucka conduct a freewheeling discussion about April’s crossover event The Omega Factor, which takes place in Avenging Spider-Man, Daredevil, and The Punisher.

Next, Dan Slott joins us to gush about his latest issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, out this week. It starts a 2 part time travel story that promises ripple effects for the weeks and months to come.

Finally we bring you Part 2 of the latest Bendis Tapes, as Brian Michael Bendis answers more question from his Jinxworld message board about all of his books, and the craft of comic book writing.

  1. Do you ever take some time for yourself, sir? A serious thanks for all your hard work, man. Over the past few months we’ve gotten days of content (A jaw dropping amount), which you have to edit up and everything. Wow. How do you do it?

  2. Greg has a lousy phone line. Nothing can be done with that, other than him moving to a different region. Or if he chooses to do skype. Until I showed up, these were soley print based press confs.

  3. Just listened to the Waid Rucka Wacker press conference…Greg’s hone line was fine 95% of the time. Maybe it’s you

Great stuff, John! That was a fun call with Waid and Rucka. Having done a few of these Marvel calls, I’ve come to hope for the ones with multiple creators on the line, whether it’s a writer and artist or something like this with two writers and their editor. This one was especially good because the two get along so well. Everyone is engaged in the discussion and having fun.
