Talksplode #53 – Make Comics as a Professional Artist with David Marquez & Brent Schoonover

Show Notes

It’s another round table conversation on the business of making comics. This time, we’re talking about making a living as an artist, both fully and partly in comics, among many other things to do with professional comic book creators. Strap in for a long, revealing, and fascinating conversation about what it actually means to work in comics at various levels. Joining Josh Flanagan are artists David Marquez (Ultimate Spider-Man, Fantastic Four: Season One) and Brent Schoonover (Horrorwood, Mr. Murder is Dead). The group talks about what it means to be a full time artist at a company like Marvel comics, and what it takes to get there. Conversely, both Marquez and Schoonover have worked for smaller publishers like Archaia and discuss how things operate different at that kind of company. If you’ve ever wanted to professionally make comics, in any capacity, this is a show you need to listen to.
