Pick of the Week Podcast

Pick of the Week #526 – The Mighty Thor #5

Show Notes

Ron Richards is off doing amazing professional things, apparently, so we’ve pulled in a ringer with Jeff Cannata to guest host with Josh Flanagan and Conor Kilpatrick. And we think it worked out okay. There were plenty of books that were okay, and maybe even better than we gave them credit for. We talk about what we got wrong. It’s a grand old time, with a whole lot of inkers.

Comments

  1. The person doing the narration in “The Vision” is Agatha Harkness. Agatha’s dialogue in the last panel of issue 3 (after she eats the innards of a cat) is the exact narration in issue 1, panel 1. This makes it all the more creepier because (somehow), Agatha is dead in the “Scarlet Witch” and we haven’t seen how this has happened.

  2. It’s funny you mentioned the “Superman dressed as Batman” thing – I recently rewatched an episode of Superman: TAS where Batman is missing and Superman dresses up as Bats to take his place, with Robin trying to sort of steer him in the right direction. Fun concept!

  3. What Ray said, the narration likely sounds muffled cos it’s coming from a cupboard. I’m surprised Jeff forgot all the Agatha stuff, as he’d just read them in a oner. Could be that reality changed when we blinked and stuff got forgotten.

Totally agree about ponytails and topknots, stop it now, Marvel. Well, stop it in about 1994… The Hercules topknot has been a supporting character in his currently, wonderful, soon-to-be-cancelled comic.

Anyroadup, excellent show as ever, always good to hear Jeff. A wee pronunciation thing, Conor, ‘shire’ at the end of English counties is ‘sheh/shuh’ as opposed to the Tolkein ‘shire’. Mind, it sounds super-charming when you say it, so forget I said anything!

  4. Great episode. This week was basically which Aaron thing was my favorite week. Was it Thor or Dr. Strange? I liked Strange more but both were great.

  5. I believe Avatar bought the rights to the other War Stories collections as well.
