Pick of the Week Podcast

Pick of the Week #597 – Mister Miracle #1

Show Notes

We will pronounce words wrong and not remember the names of things immediately. It’s only going to get worse, folks. But besides that, this is one of those shows where there are lots of things to like in the week’s comic book stack. Also, we talk about the magnificent Pick of the Week for a really long time. Plus, the first just flat out bad super power.

Comments

  1. first of all, even before I listen this week: I LOVE MY “ONE IS ELECTRO” SHIRT !!!!!!!

  2. Hey guys, I’m from Los Angeles, CA. In regards to Mr. Miracle #1’s successes I can report that after going to two comic shops, in two different parts of town, I noticed that the book was purchased by every other customer that came in the store. Surprisingly Mr. Miracle #1 appeares to have appealed to both middle aged and young twenty year old customers. I know its my personal account, but if my ease dropping is any indication, Mr. Miracle is off to a great start!

  3. I’m not seeing this episode on iTunes or in the app I use (Overcast). Anyone else having this issue?

  4. How odd. I’ve used “Hurm” for years, mostly in e-mails and texts, and this the first time in a long time I’ve even thought about it being from Watchmen, via you guys. I mean, I’ve always known where it came from, of course, but I don’t even associate it with that any more, it’s just part of my vocabulary, I think partially down to you guys!

  5. I will have my revenge, Richards! So swears Tri-Skate!

  6. You know the whole ‘because comics’ and ‘comics should be wacky’ approach?
I mean fine that can work I normally don’t go in for that approach but fine.
A character in Secret Empire that vomits up solutions for “altruistic purposes? ??
    Yeah- No.
If he can vomit up a piece of the cosmic cube? Why not the WHOLE CUBE? Or in the very least more pieces?
I get the cheeky humour here- I don’t think it works.

Ron know that you don’t pronounce E.M.P. as a whole word right? Emp?
Egg-ret is one thing But I know that he has heard the electro magnetic pulse acronym pronounced before

Tom King- I think maybe after the Batman suicide plot device just a month ago- using that theme again in Mister Miracle kind of seems lazy/weird.

  7. Anybody else having trouble finding this comic? I’ve looked several times on the D.C. Digital app, but I can’t find it. I want to read it before listening to this episode. HELP!

  8. I know it will be awhile before I receive my “super power”…is there someone still compiling a list…and is someone out there creating costumes and names…or someplace where we can submit our super-name and costume. When the Legion of Doom we need to know who to call…what are we calling our group? iFanboy Brigade? iFanboy Society of America (International, Europe et all…); iFanboy Detroit? Legion of iFanboys?
