iFanboy #205 – Emerald City Comic Con 2011 (Part Two)

Show Notes

Emerald City Comic Con 2011 was too big for just one episode, so Ron Richards and Conor Kilpatrick are back with part two this week for more chats with another group of fantastic creators.

Nathan Edmondson

It might be under the radar for now, but Nathan Edmondson is working on one of the best independent series of the year, Who is Jake Ellis? from Image Comics. Edmondson tells us about the series, and what the future holds. And not once did he receive information from an invisible expert. Read the book. You’ll get it then.

Nick Spencer

How many books can a comic book writer write? Nick Spencer is determined to find out. From Infinite Vacation to Morning Glories to Iron Man 2.0 to T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, and more stuff he can’t even talk about Spencer is going for the record. Not only that, but all these projects are very different from one another, and more importantly, they’re all good.

Frank Cho and Joe Keatinge

Soon to be releasing their collaboration, Brutal, Joe and Frank say what they can about the upcoming superhero series. Additionally Frank updates us on all the projects he’s got going on. But there’s space, dinosaurs, and lots of pretty girls on the horizon.

Chris Roberson

The man took over Superman, mid-walk, and is creating a world about creating a world with Starborn, while also working with his idol Mike Allred on iZombie for Vertigo. He’s also working on the Fables spinoff Cinderella mini-series. That is a lot of irons in the fire, and he gets to work with Stan Lee to boot. What we’re saying is that Chris Roberson is in a good place.

Jonathan Hickman

Farewell Johnny Storm, and hello to the man what done it. Jonathan Hickman is here to tell us about how the current Fantastic Four story came about, how it’s going over, and maybe a little bit about what’s coming up. He also talks about the unexpected story in S.H.I.E.L.D. and what fans of that book can expect in the future.

  1. I got the day off so I get to watch this pretty early.

  2. I still can’t believe that Jonathan Hickman is an ordinary human being.

  3. I didn’t know that Hickman was Chris Roberson :p

  4. @bigben2012  Crap! Chalk that up to the run up to getting prepped for C2E2. I’ll take that responsibility. Still, I think it’s only the first or second time I’ve done that in 200+ episodes. Not so bad.

  5. This interview just sold me on Nick Spencer. Think I’m gonna keep Secret Avengers on my pull list when he comes on and Morning Glories just jumped to the top of my stack.

  6. Loved the intro!

  7. I saw this in my iTunes subscription but it didnt’ download, now it isn’t showing up at all and I don’t see it – anyone else having trouble with their subscription to the iFanboy video show via iTunes?

  8. @rycaut  Due to some technical issues, we had to pull it off of iTunes for right now. It wil be back in a few hours.

  9. @conor  Ah glad I wasn’t just imagining that I had seen it but didn’t now

  10. Good stuff as usual fellas. Hickman seems like a helluva guy. Glad to hear there’s gonna be a SHIELD Vol. 2. I was trade-waiting it so I can’t wait to be on board for the second run. Man, Nick Spencer is a machine! Let’s hope he keeps that enthusiam for years.

  11. Haven’t watched yet, but didn’t the last episode preview Joe Casey for this episode?

  12. Nice work guys!

  13. @josh  Lol, it’s all good homie. Loved that yall interviewed Chris Roberson, I wish yall asked him about his new book Elric for Boom Studios

  14. @Suicidalkangarooz  It was a joke.

  15. @conor  aw. 🙁

  16. holy crap Nick Spencer is tiny!
