As far as the IRS knows, New Comics for 04/15/09 died in 1975

Get to pulling this Wednesday's books, and then let us know what you're looking forward to most, what you're dropping, what others should be buying and anything you're thinking. Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!
What are the iFanboys buying? Check it out here - Conor, Ron, Josh and Gordon the Intern.
And what about the rest of the staff? What are they buying? Dave, Jim, Paul, Mike and Sonia.
Well, will you look at that - Bungie is actually going to let Halo: Uprising #4 come out! But does anyone care anymore?
It's a bloodletting! This week I think I'm going to give the axe to Green Arrow & Black Canary, Superman/Batman (until the next arc), The Man With No Name, and Zorro (moving to trades on this one), while contemplating picking up Vigilante #5 because I liked Titans last week and it's been a while since I've followed a crossover into a new book.
And the book that I'm most looking forward to this week is Sub-Mariner Comics 70th Anniversary Special #1. I love me some 1940s Marvel action. And the art's by Mitch Breitweiser who is fantastic!
This week Ron has the Pick of the Week!
Bonus Question: Cake or death?
Comments
Cake me for me too please
Posted by brianmaru on 04/13/09 at 05:18 PM2 books this week: Incognito and Walking Dead. I don't read Walking Dead until I get a big stack of em, so I will only be reading 1 book this week. This is the smallest week ever for me. At least it will give me the oppurtunity to pick up the 4th Scott Pilgrim book.
BQ: Death by cake.
Posted by Ruo21 on 04/13/09 at 05:21 PMLooks like lots of good stuff this week! Looking forward to the Sub-Mariner book as well, pretty much all the X-books, and Mysterius.
BQ: What kind of cake?
Posted by ohcaroline on 04/13/09 at 05:22 PMYou're dropping Superman/Batman? I saw DnA in the credits and considered picking it up. Nevermind, I guess. Just Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America for me. Good thing, too. I needed another light week and spending so much at the Emerald City Con.
Posted by BrianBaer on 04/13/09 at 05:24 PMBQ: "Uhm, cake please."
"Well we're out of cake! We only had three bits and we didn't expect such a rush!"
"So my choice is 'or death'? Well I'll have the chicken then."
Posted by Parker on 04/13/09 at 05:25 PMWalking Dead #60! Good stuff.
BQ: I choose to outrun death by giving him cake. Probably an ice cream cake
Posted by drakedangerz on 04/13/09 at 05:29 PMexcuse me, I ordered the vegetarian...
Posted by DarthDuck on 04/13/09 at 05:29 PM@BrianBaer: It's not the writing on SUPERMAN/BATMAN, it's the art. I'm gone until Whilce Portacio is gone too.
Posted by conor on 04/13/09 at 05:33 PMMaybe Uncanny X-Men or maybe nothing for me this week.
@ohcaroline: Angel Food Cake.[/Family Guy]
Posted by kenkneisel on 04/13/09 at 05:40 PMHaha. When I saw that Caroline said it was a good stuff week, I knew I was in for a relatively light haul. ;)
We cover the bases. She takes the mutants, I got the barbarians and demons.
This works out very well because I should have the DOOM PATROL showcase reserved for me (they ran out last week), and I just might have to try out Perhapanauts in trade.
This week I am excited to get my hands on the latest Action Comics. I'm really getting a kick out of the World of New Krypton books. Good time to be a Superman fan if you ask me.
BQ - I'm not a big cake fan, but given the alternative...
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 04/13/09 at 05:40 PMOoh, a busy week for me finally: Action Comics; Captain America; Amazin' Spidey; Tiny Titans (aw yeah!); Uncanny X-Men; Green Arrow; Green Lantern Corps; Sub-Mariner; Incognito.
BQ: cake. A nice cup cake with plenty of frosting and those silver balls on top.
Posted by Garrett on 04/13/09 at 05:46 PMAmazing Spider-Man and Captain America for sure. Really looking forward to both. I am curious about American McGee's Grimm, Beta Ray Bill and Strange Adventures of HP Lovecraft. I'll flip through them at the store and choose there whether to pick them up or not.
BQ: Death, no wait, cake! Cake!
Posted by DMaggot on 04/13/09 at 05:48 PMWe're all out of Cake now, gentlemen. We didn't think there'd be such a rush.
Posted by OttoBott on 04/13/09 at 05:54 PMThe band or the snack food?
Either way...
Posted by josh on 04/13/09 at 05:57 PMif you have a light week this week, may I recommend....POPGUN 3?!?! ;)
Also, last week's AMAZON #2. Just give it a flip. Really, really sensational storytelling going on in that book with art by Tim Sale.
Posted by PaulMontgomery on 04/13/09 at 06:03 PMDMZ #41
Fables #83
GLC #35
Oracle #2
Walking Dead #60
ASM #591
Captain America #49
Incognito #03
Punisher #04
The Stand: American Nightmares #02
Sub-Mariner Comics 70th Anniversary Special #01
Overlook #01
Some good stuff this week, excited to see what Overlook is about.
Posted by kwisdumb on 04/13/09 at 06:06 PMMysterius looks great this week. Anyone that likes Jeff Parker's more "mainstream" Marvel books should check it out. Ready for ASM and Icognito. Getting Oracle, hope it's OK at least. Sub-Mariner tribute, fo sho'. Light. Money to catch up on trades, word.
BQ: Booze and cigarettes. So. Death it is!
Posted by uberlush on 04/13/09 at 06:09 PM@ conor I saw no problem with the art on this arc. Its not amazing, but to me its not nearly as bad as people say he is. But only 2 more issues until we get franic manapul.
Posted by thematthaber on 04/13/09 at 06:12 PM
i am more of a pie/life kind of guy
Posted by spongebat on 04/13/09 at 06:17 PMOoh, that Lovecraft book looks interesting too. I'll check that out.
BQ: Cake.
Posted by kwisdumb on 04/13/09 at 06:21 PMDeath.
Posted by mitchster on 04/13/09 at 06:23 PMwow.... RIDICULOUSLY light week for me, a lot of books coming out that i read in trade, though... so only one thing I want, and I KNOW my new LCS won't stock it. maybe this week's comic money will go towards a nice delicious HC or something now...
Posted by sgrsickness on 04/13/09 at 06:32 PMWOW, I can't believe I skipped over that. Had to go back and look for it, will definitely give this a try!
Posted by sgrsickness on 04/13/09 at 06:35 PMJust DMZ and GL Corps for me, but I won't complain about a light week too much, my wallet will thank me later.
BQ: "We're out of cake. We only had 2 bits and we didn't expect such a rush! Thank you for flying Church of England"
Posted by Eyun on 04/13/09 at 06:40 PMPie!
Posted by SuperMoore on 04/13/09 at 06:46 PMI honestly think that was the funniest "new comics" headline I have seen yet. Well done Conor!
Cake. Death is some serious shit!
the Tiki
Posted by thefreakytiki on 04/13/09 at 06:51 PMBQ: A Berliner
Posted by chlop on 04/13/09 at 07:00 PMThis is bad.....only 1 book on my pull bin this week...gotta improvise...
Green Lantern Corps
Punisher (said I dropped this but....give it one more shot....for the 3rd time)
Sub-Mariner 70th Anniversary (I love me some Namor)
BQ: The cake is a lie
Posted by TheNextChampion on 04/13/09 at 07:04 PMA small week for me which is awesome but sad. Awesome because I need to save money. Sad because I want to be able to read more comics. Stupid money. That said, I'm stoked for the Sub Mariner Special and Action Comics, which was so strong last month.
BQ: If I give cake to Death, would he let me off the hook? If that's the case, I choose cake, which is given to Death, and I live for eternity. Actually, come to think of it, that may be the poorer choice...
Posted by Neb on 04/13/09 at 07:22 PMWalking Dead, Incognito, REBELS, DMZ, Cap, GI Joe Cobra, Fables... solid week.
BQ: Cake + milk + nap + more cake
Posted by OddsBodkins on 04/13/09 at 07:37 PMVenturing into Marvel territory and jumping on to Captain America and Spider-man. And crossing my fingers that Green Arrow/Black Canary spontaneously improves.
BQ: "So my choice is...'or death'?"
Posted by Megnolia on 04/13/09 at 07:52 PMSolid, yet light, week.
BQ: Death by cake!
Posted by Crippler on 04/13/09 at 08:02 PMThank you, Megnolia!
Not many Eddie Izzard fans in the house, it seems.
Posted by conor on 04/13/09 at 08:32 PMREBELS #3! hope it'll continue the magic of that title so far...
Posted by TehDave on 04/13/09 at 08:49 PMI'm looking foeword to the most is the Sub-Mariner 70th comic thing.
BQ: cake i guess but i don't like it.
Posted by siratomofbones on 04/13/09 at 09:14 PMI'm looking forward to Cap, Walking Dead and the rebounding X-Factor.
Cake 'til I die!
Posted by Graeme on 04/13/09 at 09:27 PMLooking forward to Oracle, Green Lantern Corps, GI Joe: Cobra, Action Comics
Giving up on Titans, Teen Titans, Vigilante....just not interested anymore. Sticking with Trinity 'till the end...not doing the yearly book thing again DC...you can't make me!

Posted by Dez on 04/13/09 at 09:57 PMnice, ripping off and eddie izzard joke. and death! unless it's CAKE the band, then its CAKE
Posted by mikeandzod21 on 04/13/09 at 09:59 PMJust the late issue of Incognito for me. Good because I'm broke and I really want the new iFanboy shirt.
BQ: Cake.
Posted by miyamotofreak on 04/13/09 at 10:02 PMpretty light week for me. Only Captain America and Incognito
anyway, the books from last wednesday still haven't made their way to Canberra, they were meant to show up today but my store's deliverary agencancy fucked up. Can you believe that shit?
BQ: Lame!
Posted by edward on 04/13/09 at 10:23 PM@ Conor
Its ok man, some people just haven't been exposed to the finer things in life. Way to inject some class into the site.
Posted by Parker on 04/13/09 at 10:46 PM@Paul -- I think you're right, as a general rule, but remember I totally recommended the 'Doom Patrol'. The merry mutants were an inferior ripoff, I do believe.
Posted by ohcaroline on 04/13/09 at 11:37 PMThat X-Men/Doom Patrol thing has been making the rounds for so long, I read about it on a Kevin Smith web site, something I have not paid attention to in a loooong time:
http://www.quickstopentertainment.com/comics101/72.html
Posted by Jimski on 04/13/09 at 11:47 PM@Jimski I was totally just joking. But that article makes me want to buy the Doom Patrol thing even more, dammit.
Posted by ohcaroline on 04/13/09 at 11:57 PMMy favorite alien pony, Beta Ray Bill has a book this week?? I SAY THEE NEIGH! I can't wait!
I'll just cut to the chase and pick death.
Posted by Templar on 04/14/09 at 12:24 AMInteresting week.
Looking forward to Perhapanauts TPB. :)
I will be having Red Velvet cake for my favorite day of the year tomorrow. :)m
Posted by acbg on 04/14/09 at 12:24 AM@conor: I know what you mean by the art on Superman/Batman turned me off till next arc.
My comics of interest are:
Action Comics
100 Bullets(very sad)
Walking Dead
DMZ
and Incognito
BQ: Cake
Posted by WinTheWonderboy on 04/14/09 at 01:04 AM@conor Oh, I love me some Eddie Izzard. His flag bit is hilarious!
Posted by DMaggot on 04/14/09 at 02:09 AMLooks like a decent week. Most lookin' forward to - GLC, Walking Dead & Incognito!!
BQ - Both please.
Posted by WadeWilson on 04/14/09 at 02:12 AMBQ: hmmmm... what kind of cake?
Posted by captamerica101 on 04/14/09 at 04:06 AMvigilante thus far has been fantastic..............so underated............cant wait to see what happens with the titians....................dc has inhanced vigilante for the better
Posted by jets4life242 on 04/14/09 at 07:10 AMFables crossover! I'm jumping onto issues. Hopefully won't be too lost since I'm not up-to-date on either title. No event fatigue here, apparently.
BQ: With tax day looming... "or death?"
Posted by patio on 04/14/09 at 07:37 AMmmmm cake
had an ice cream cake from coldstone over the weekend
Posted by broderboy on 04/14/09 at 09:10 AMMost looking forward to Captain America, Walking Dead, Incognito, Cobra, GLC, Green Arrow, the Stephen King books, Spider-Man and Action.
However, book of the week is 100 Bullets. I've got the last 15 issues set aside to read all at once to wrap up this series. Say what you want about Azzerello's sometimes-meandering story, it always, always, ALWAYS looked pretty.
BQ: does the cake have that crusty, sugary icing or that whipped icing?
Posted by Dan on 04/14/09 at 09:46 AMPretty light week for me. I've got Action Comics, GLC, Amzaing Spider-man. Decided to take a chance on Overlook, looks like ti could be good. I decdided tot ake a pace on Namor this week, the Captain America One-shot was alright, but it didn't really feel worth the $3.99 to me.
BQ: The Deathcake!
Posted by Rustyautoparts on 04/14/09 at 10:07 AM@me: Wow, I think my fingers took a break for that last post... *I decided to take a pass
Posted by Rustyautoparts on 04/14/09 at 10:08 AM@conor, at least my comment was in keeping with the reference, i was so excited to be the first when i knew the reference
Posted by RoiVampire on 04/14/09 at 12:03 PMdeath i mean cake.
Posted by DorkAvenger on 04/14/09 at 03:25 PMCap, Incognito, X-Men Legacy, Action, and cake please.
And Conor, seems to me that a lot of the iFanbase got the Izzard "Dress to Kill" reference. Further proof that good taste abounds here.

Amazing Spider-Man #591
Captain America #49

X-Factor has become my fav X-book at the moment.
BQ: Classic...I love it......
Posted by roadcrew1 on 04/14/09 at 04:51 PMMost looking forward to Uncanny X-Men, followed by Captain America.
BQ: Death! Wait, I meant cake...
Posted by Diabhol on 04/15/09 at 06:14 AM
Captain America for sure. I really enjoyed the last issue of Punisher, so I might pick that up as well.
