  1. This has been so much fun.  I’m really liking where this is going and looking forward to seeing what’s next.  I wonder who else we’ll lose before it’s all over.

  2. I think that’s supposed to be a vague Fall of the Mutants homage cover? Last issue was better than I had expected, but still not where this even should be. Hmmm.

  3. I love that Carey and Kyle/Yost are finishing this up.  The most capable hands the x-books have had in years.

  4. CAUTION: FALLING X-MEN IN THE PRESENT

  5. Will Cypher talk Master Mold out of trying to kill the mutants and end up falling in love? God I hope so.

  6. Pencils by Land AND Granov?  Curse you, Satan!

  7. @Drakedangerz Maybe he’ll deliver the "You are not a gun" speech from The Iron Giant?

  8. I can’t recall Granov internal pencils in recent memory. It seems like all he does is covers. If his sequential art is as stiff it will exlain why. I will wait and see. I already know What I think of Land.

  9. Oh look, now there’s only pencils by Land…. Curse you Satan!

  10. Granov did good work on Extremis, in 2005 I think, but that is the last I have heard of him doing internal art. I love his stuff, the muted colours are great and the textures he uses for clothing and hair are great.

I undertand people not liking his stuff but putting him in the same bracket as Greg land is just offensive. Say what you like about Granov’s style, but at least he does not lighbox porn and photos of well known celebrities as "reference".

  11. I can’t wait to see what Magneto is going to do!? I’m hoping Carey’s getting the gig, cause he writes him fucking perfectly.

  12. It’s gotten to the point that I can’t really tell the difference between X-Force, X-Men Legacy, Unc. X-Men, or New Mutants right now.  Thanks good for the crossover and it might be a nice chance for these books to refresh themselves with a clean start after this is all over.

  13. @ zattaric. I felt that way for the past X-Force and New Mutants issues. Writers throw everyone in an issue and X-characters that are supposed to be the main feature take part in only small portions of the entire issue. However I enjoyed most of this crossover. Not really excited about the vampire storyline that is coming next.

  14. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Granov did a Venom back-up for Amazing Spider-Man. I think it was around the New Ways to Die period where they were making Brock into Anti-Venom.

  15. not a bad penultimate chapter.  I love the Magneto line about inheriting the earth, very well stated.

  16. So in Ed Harras as Magneto, huh? And ironicaly, I believe it was from a scene from ‘The Rock’

  17. Lovin this storyline. Cannot wait for Leonard Kirk to take over New Mutants.

  18. Oh…. misfire. Just not enjoyable for me. For all that it accomplished from a story perspective, it just seemed… flaccid. No punch to it whatsoever. Not bad, no but just stumbling into the finish. Also, I’m really starting to get miffed by the inconsistent drawing of Hope throughout the event. Sometimes she looks 30, other times 15, sometimes 10. It’s getting out of hand. 3/5

  19. @ABirdseysView

The next issue (X-Force) will be the penultimate chapter.  There’s another one-shot at the end to finishing everything up.

  20. @Slockhart- well, I see how they are solicited.  however, as I understand it, the one-shot is more of each creative team’s epilogue showing where each set of characters stands after the end of the event, which will basically be X-Force #28.  bit of speculation on my part there, but we will see how it all ends up shortly.  sadly, the X-Force issue has been set back a week.

  21. I don’t believe for a second that Hope would behave so childishly. She was raised by a soldier for her entire life, she should fucking know that sometimes sacrifices must be made in order to win! This little temper tantrum she insist on throwing is just an excuse to push her to the edge so that her powers can eventually manifest.

And I agree with Prax. Now bang, no enthusiasm. Just running through the motions. Cary writes a fun Magneto though.

  22. agree with Drake and Prax.  I’m still loving the crossover but this one was sleepwalking.

on a sidenote, is there another mutant who’s saved the planet as many times as Cypher?

  23. This was fucking atrocious.

  24. @ cutty The way Cypher’s powers are presently being written he is practically Omega-level. But of course his body is a soft, crunchy thing so if handled carefully I think he can stay this way.

This was some bad Greg Land art. I could sort of see what Carey was trying to do, but Land kept undercutting it with facial expressions and scene compositions that didn’t match. It definitely took some wind out of what otherwise was a big moment: the sent-to-future mutants battled two Master Molds and won.
