    idk about this seires. the idea is pretty good, but the art i am not crazy about

  2. Diabhol Diabhol says:

    So goddamned excited for this.

  3. I am torn.  I loved the War Machine arc in Iron Man, but that was Gage and this is Pak…but I LOVE Leonardo Manco, so I think I have to buy it.

  4. There’s this nagging thought in my head that this is gonna be medicore…..

    right until Iron Man 2 is close to release. Then they will get the best creative team on this and make it a blast to read. If the art looks just as good as the cover does *done by the same guy* then this might be worth a shot before the next film.

  5. One thing, though…unless Manco has changed over the years, I would NOT expect much timeliness.

    @brownell

     Well, considering Manco has been putting out Hellblazer monthly for god-knows-how-long i think we’re good.

    Most anticipated book this week. Greg Pak, he’s doing the Magneto:Testament book now which I’ve heard nothing but good things about. I’m not familiar with his work but looking forward to it!

  8. J4K3 J4K3 says:

    @dani – Pak also wrote some of the best Hulk stories ever. I didn’t even care for the Hulk until i read Planet Hulk in hardcover.

    As for the War Machine series, I can’t see anything wrong with the art. Manco draws an excellent War Machine, and everything else I’ve seen in previews has been quite nice. As a fan of the character, I’m really excited for this.

    I’m cautiously optimistic about this.

  10. @MisterBlank – Sweet!  I just remember his Deathlok being full of late issues and fill in artists…and it only last, like, 13 issues or so.

    Saw the preview of this on Newsarama.  Is it par for the heroes to kill now?  War Machine just blew the bad guys away.  I can understand he’s a soldier and the situation he was in may have called for some extreme force…is this where some of our guys are though?  It will take something pretty significant for me to pick this one up.

  12. Diabhol Diabhol says:

    @marvelzombie

    Nothing is "par." Various heroes do what they do differently. Sure, the A-list heroes have a code against killing people, but a lot of the lower-tier characters don’t. Especially those who were former soldiers. War Machine’s "job" in the MU is to do the things that need doing, whether it requires killing people or not.

    Strangely enough, I’m far more interested in Jim Rhodes than I am War Machine. I bought The Crew, afterall, but I won’t be buying this.

    I really like War Machine… as a SUPPORTING CHARACTER. After reading the digital comic preview of this series, I decided not to buy it.

  15. I bought it.

    I liked it.

    I’ll buy more.
