  1. I love Kirkman’s “style” of world-building. He is slowly introducing us to all the characters around Redmond….not rushed, but not boring either. The artwork is impressive as well, perfect for this title.

  2. AMC bought the rights to make this into a TV show.

  3. Wow, I dug the hell out of this. Did anyone else feel like the Cohen/Redmond conversation could have been a deleted scene from Out of Sight? if you squint, you can almost see George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.

And the packaging?! Besides the fact that he must be filthy with Walking Dead money, why is it that Kirkman can publish a 20 page comic, with an essay page, on very nice paper for $2.99, but Marvel can’t. I’m starting to think Marvel’s $3.99 for 20 pages on cheaper paper is a real rip off. (Except for Wolverine and The X-Men, because no one’s perfect.)

  4. 3 issues in and I am having a hard time figuring out what the appeal of this book is.

In the Comics Journal review of issue 1, they write: “Those aren’t stories, they’re elevator pitches.” (http://www.tcj.com/well-go-back-to-mourning-moebius-when-alan-moore-tells-jason-aaron-that-he-didnt-mean-to-hurt-his-feelings/)

After the recent news of AMC picking this up, I’m starting to see this in the same light that I see Millar’s recent work. They are comics that are nothing more than movie pitches.

    I hate that.

    • I like stories. Who cares if they’re going to turn this into a TV show sometime in the future. It’s a comic book now, and for my money it’s very well done. Is it reminiscent of a TV show in some of the pacing and genre conventions? Yeah, I think that’s fair. But I love crime TV shows like Justified, Terriers, Sons of Anarchy and the like, so I’m good with it!
