  1. I know everyone was gaga over this book before it even came out, but it wasn’t until last issue that I felt really hooked by this series. Now I can’t wait to read it!

  2. Again with the covers! Stop it, Staples!

And I love that the solicit gives NOTHING away.

  3. I am absolutely loving me some Saga. This may be one of the few times I buy a trade after already owning the comics…it is THAT good.

  4. Kind of off topic here, but does anyone know if Mind The Gap came out last week? CBR and Previews had the 13th listed as the release date, but it wasn’t on iFanboy and didn’t get it at my LCS…? That’s another Image title I’m digging…

    • It was pushed back to the 27th due to a printing error.

    • Thanks, Connor. You rock.

    • Thats funny because I got it and my LCS had about 10 copies.
What was the printing error? I wonder if mine has it and if it would be more rare.

    • Retailers all got it but weren’t supposed to shelve it.

    • I think p19 was a black page, maybe with just text or something? It’s been recalled. I’ve seen some going on ebay for a little bit more expensive, like maybe double the regular price but nothing to get excited about. It might go up in price when the proper issue comes out or some time further down the line, I dunno. A copy of Phonogram that was recalled due to a printing error went for $75.

    • I got a copy. Definite printing error, but it wasn`t unreadable. Good issue. I will leave it at that so I don`t ruin it for you guys.

    • Well that solves it! Some friends were telling me how good it was and I was thinking they were insane, when in fact they just got the misprints.

    • Crazy, i just looked over my issue and don’t see any misprints or errors anywhere.
@bigdougJ can you point me to exactly what i should be looking for?

    • @TheRealVenom- I’m at work so i can’t tell you what pages they are, but there are two pages where the panels are quite dark….not the pitch black panel, as that was part of the story I think. I’m certain it’s not a mood thing, so I figure that was the problem…

  5. This guy on the cover looks like he’s either getting blunted or he’s playing the recorder/flute that starts the Engineer’s space ship a la Prometheus.

  6. Cannot. Freaking. Wait.

  7. I’ll say it again, if this were the only comic I were pulling I’d be completely content. Seriously this is just like an old favorite pair of jeans. LOVE IT!

  8. Saga is magic.

  9. Add me to the magic that is Saga. It was been killing it since issue one with story and art.

  10. I want to go to Sextillion

  11. The more I re-read the initial copies (which I bought an extra reading copy of each to get thrashed) the more I realize this better run on for like 300 issues because there are so many questions raised and the more you dig the more you realize just how much has been introduced quietly in just 3 issues! The rest is so good you forget about huge turtles, talking seahorses, the different planets/worlds shown, and on and on. Re-reading these is a sheer joy and I pick up on cool little details and hints I missed the first time through. I’m not sure if there has ever been a monthly comic I have re-read as many times as I have Saga so far, seriously ever for me, I have to be on the 12-15th run through on these.

  12. Love this title. Love that cover. Love Lying Cat.

    Can’t wait.

  13. This book is why I read comics.

  14. I’ve never been one to cosplay, but I think The Will just might get me to change my mind, I’m also follically challenged–alright bald–so that could explain my partiality.

I have to agree with everyone though, this book is just amazing. Vaughn and Staples are creating such a cool world with limitless possibilities.

  15. I love the lying cat. Random pointless post, but the Lying Cat is a super cool idea.

  16. Read the preview over at CBR and I must say this is one really strange ass issue, although I am slightly aroused by the woman with legs and a large head no body. I kinda of get the idea behind these sexy ladies however; I would probably pass on them. The preview has got me waiting for Wednesday with new excitement!!?? Just really not sure if I have some serious mental issues and need some help, those ladies kinda of got me curious on how they are able to have relations; or anything close to it for that matter?? Such a completely different comic book compared to what is out there right now, very strange indeed!

    K

    • I haven’t checked out the preview, but yeah, I was wondering that in the last issue or two. It was pretty apparent that The Will & The Stalk were “together” at one point, right? Found myself wondering how that went down. Like, where in that arachnid mess did he stick it? It’s all hairy spider-body down there, and… ehck! I just creeped myself out. (@skydog – He had to be blunted, right?)

  17. 39 vs 26 % lets go saga

  18. I’ve only read 2 comics so far, and i gave Wonder Woman a 5, but this was so much better, i would’ve liked to give it a 6, but sadly, that’s impossible.

  19. I like Marco and Alana but if the 2nd arc shifted focus to The Will for a few issues, I would be too upset. Hell, I’ll say it, how about a pin off? He’s got a Han Solo quality I could enjoy for a mini

  20. SAGA!!!!

  21. The Will = best character of the year:)

  22. Great issue. This comic just keeps getting better and better. I want a Lying Cat.

  23. SPOILER ALERT!!!!

    Sapphic Strap-on Angels !!!

  24. This was another awesome chapter in a wonderful book so far, but was anybody else totally annoyed with Alana. She was whining at Marko the whole time, just because he had ONE girlfriend before her. He had just woken up from almost dying, and all she could do was bitch at him. I was really hoping Marko would to tell her to STFU. Of course he didn’t, maybe that’s why he has a hot wife, and I’m single.

On the other hand, I loved the parts with The Will, what a badass. Sextillion certainly lived up to it’s moniker. Bravo to Staples, when the “Slave” was revealed my heart just sank, without so much as a word from her character, those eyes did all the work. Man, I wish issue five was out tomorrow.

    • It was much more than a girlfriend, plus the fact that he mentioned her as he was dying and not Alana would lead her to think that she is much more important than just some past girlfriend. I thought her reaction made sense.

    • @TurdSandwich- I am with you 100%. It was one of those moments where unfortunately art imitates life. Broke my heart. Good news is, The WIll did the right thing!

    • Wow, I thought Marco got off kinda easy/quickly. Then again, Alana was happy to see him still alive. My wife probably would have stabbed me again. Not left me, mind you. Not killed me. But definitely stabbed me.

    • @jasonhart
i think he got off easy, too. i can totally see my wife stabbing me over saying some stupid shit like that. she wouldn’t give a fuck what state of mind i’m in. luckily for me, she’s a doctor and would know where to stab me without killing me. but still, getting stabbed is a motherfucker.

  25. I gave it a four. Don’t think this is gonna make my pick of the week. It was good, but if I put aside that this is Saga, it wasn’t anything through-the-roof spectacular. *shrug*

  26. This is turning out to be awesome, might be better than Y.

  27. the art floors me every issue. I think i’m swooning for Fiona Staples. We should totally get married. just sayin 😛

  28. this was an incredibly strange but fun issue. saw some things i can never un-see, and might haunt me. Great series so far. really excited that i have no idea where this is going or what to expect next.

another really fun part of this series so far, as strange as it might sound, is the crazy little letters section in the back. Still kicking myself for forgetting to participate in the survey, but reading through BKV’s commentary on it was really fun! i dunno…extra bonus kinda stuff.

  29. I’m not a big indie comic reader but decided to take a chance on this after seeing it as POTW for so many weeks. Needless to say, I’m glad.

Beautiful, clear and emotive art. Witty and realistic dialogue. Relatable characters. Even the To Be Continued column was thoroughly entertaining this week. Really cool of Vaughan to read every one of those letters. I think I’d like to be friends with him.

  30. love that cover. i really like that Image put the bar code on the back. makes for a much more beautiful cover. do they do that with all their books?
sextillion didn’t disappoint. nor did the Will when the slave was revealed from behind door #1.
i really enjoy and can relate to the nuances of the family dynamic. like the cloth diapers. we did that and it’s not that bad at all. that along with natural home births, anti-circumcision banter and tv head porn really bring this one home for me.
i really wanted to give my POTW to star wars: ghost prison, but this is clearly, if only slightly superior. i’m in for the long haul.

  31. This is my first Vaughn book and since it came out it’s been my favorite book. Today I bought the first TP for The Runaways, soon I’ll give Y the Last Man a try. Anything else from him could be considered a must read?

  32. Great issue. Not much left to say. I’m honestly sad about having to wait a month for each new one. Which is awesome.

Also, if any of you are skipping the letters column, go back and read them. It’s hilarious. Creators need to do this more.

  33. I was actually turned on and disgusted and intrigued all at the same time by this issue. This disturbs me.

  34. How do you edit reviews. Mine has spoilers and I need to change it. Good book, but average this month.

  35. This is one of the best things coming out right now, glad to be in on the ground floor, hope this team just keeps on with this quality.

  36. I hope this series is illustrated by Staples all the way through. I’d much rather they take breaks on occasion than use fill-in artists, if ever necessary. I can’t imagine this book with any other visual style. (Does anyone remember – did Pia Guerra do the whole series of Y, or were there fill-in artists? I can’t remember any.)

One of the best books going. Personally it’s my 2nd favourite narrowly missing out to Animal Man
