  1. Who the hell doesn’t love M. Gaydos art?

  2. it looks like cage is yawning

  3. Good call SkinnyJ.

  4. I super excited about a Jessica Jones-centric story.

  5. I’ve never been into the Cage/Jones love story. I’d hate livin’ in a cruddy ghetto apartment with a preggers Jessica Jones. Maybe my brain is screwed up but the older I get the less I want to be around pregnant women. I go to comics for fantasy and their story is more like a nightmare… maybe it’s supposed to be.

  6. Pretty torn on this New Avengers issue. Love the Cage/Jones realtionship. But dropped NA after Hood shot Wolverine’s package off

  7. I’m excited about any New/Might Avengers issue that doesn’t involve group fights with robots/ninjas/venoms/monsters.

  8. Is this a good jumping-on point, or is it in the middle of a story arc?

  9. although I haven’t read it yet it would seem like a good one since the hood story just ended.

  10. I hope there is more Hood soon though.  I’ve been really digging his "comeback."

  11. @ BigE- It’s always a good jumping on point! They have the "Previously in…" with each issue, and you can always pick up the Annual that came out last week (or was it two weeks ago…) to catch up on where we’re at.

  12. Ya this is a fine jumpin on point I jumped on a few issues ago while there was still an arc going on but since there that thing at the start that fills you in it would be fine.

  13. no yu art.  Mabye I can understand a fight scene.

  14. Amen. Doddzilla!

  15. Liked the issue, but it only made me wish Alias was still around.

  16. I guess i’m the only one on earth who LOVES Yu. I mean this was OK, to noir for the content I thought. but anyway, was the close up on the baby supposed to remind us that the kdis a skrull??? maybe the whole mighty team is. I mean everyone thought Iron Man was, then after the reveal of electra they showed Jessica and the baby and made them out to be skrulls, then Spider-Women took electra. so does anyone think I’m off base?

  17. Not the only one SkinnyJ, he’s by far my favourite NA artist.  No one else has as much intesity or movement in their pages.  I like looking at a page with complex fight scenes, piecing together whats going on.  I say more ninjas, MORE!

  18. I should arrest you but I wont…I should arrest you but I wont…I should arrest you but I wont!!! For crying out loud do something already

  19. ha, yea, so what is the count now, three times in two weeks?

  20. @ Skinny J- You know, I was thinking about the same thing this morning in regards to the baby Skrull.  My guess: I think Jessica Jones is the skrull and she’s finally figured out a way to be on the "inside" without looking suspicious.  Most likely, I’m wrong, but it’s a fun theory to shoot around the old noggin.

  21. I’m sorry, I call Bull%^&* on this issue. 12 pages of a friggin phone conversation is NOT sequential storytelling. "Character interaction"…whatever. I’m not saying I need giant fights every issue, but I need more than a damn PHONE call. Talking head issues are BS. On top of that the PIVOTAL moment of the whole issues–luke’s decision to stay or go, was completely muddled by art and page layout. Decompression sucks.

  22. I’m am constantly excited when this book comes out.  But this issue was lack luster.  I get what he was trying to do, but it didn’t need to take up the whole issue.  Plus they did nothing to move along the Is Luke, Jessica, or the baby a Skrull storyline.  I get it, the baby has eyes which may or may not make it a Skrull.  And whats with the dialogue that is in brackets ().  Is that a thought bubble?  Or too quiet for the other characters to understand?  I found those confusing and irrelevant.

But I still love the series and will obediently pick up the next issue.

  23. Thanks everyone!  I’ll pick it up.  Josh, Ron and Conor talk about this book on the podcasts so much that I feel that I’m out of the loop.

  24. First time reader so I was a little confused as to what was going on and I only recognized Wolverine heh. At least I tried but I won’t be picking it up anymore.

  25. Pretty good book. Nice and steady but nothing going to set the world on fire out of this on. I do like the "Sellouts Assemble" comment. I do wish this story would move forward a little faster. I like where all the avengers books are heading but I am tired of waiting and crazy about them being out of sync.

  26. @ s1lentslayer- Uh…yeah, I actually feel kind of bad for telling people it was a good jumping on point.  This issue really, kind of…wasn’t.  It focused on two of the main characters without really giving people a chance to feel out the rest of the team or the rest of the overall story.  As a long time reader of the series, I enjoyed (but did not love) this issue.  I’ll just say that this issue was not reflective of what normally goes on in the issue, and it was a bit of a departure from the tone and pace of the regular issues.

So, maybe, give it one more issue before you dismiss it.

  27. Wow… extremely boring.  I actually miss The Hand.  How does this have a 4.2 Avg Ranking?!

  28. i thought the writing was lovely and the dialog was quite smooth- contrasted by clunky art. imagine allred or mahfood on this…

  29. Pfffttt…The art was great, I immediately went back and read the entire Alias run.  Made me nostalgic for that series.

  30. THIS BOOK WAS GREAT.  I’m glad to see a new artist, b/c Yu was good but this is good too, sorta "indy" if there is such a thing.  I do have one complaint, not with the art and not with the story but the inks and the color on this book really falls short in places.  In fact there are spots were it really sucks.  I LOVE the first 5 or so pages and then when the Avengers first make an appearance, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE COLOR…Ms Marvel has CRAYON yellow hair, it looks like something my niece has on the fridge.  Really, take a look at some of the colors, no shading, no texture, no I dunno, it’s weak.  Sure the darker pages and set the mood and they are wonderful but COME ON the color on the costumes of these guys could have been done by me in flash or illustrator.  Nuff said.  On the other hand the story and the art are FANTASTIC.

  31. you know, after all of civil war, the splintering of the MU, the new avengers being on the lamb, and spiderman’s ordeal with aunt may, I found myself agreeing with jessica jones in the middle of this book. why don’t we all just register? it’s like a weight was lifted. i don’t know. is that feeling too "bush administration"?
