Ruins #1
Marvel's favorite pessimist looks through his darkest glass yet into a world where "marvel" is just another word for "horror." Nuclear warfare, internment camps, government oppression, drug addiction, degradation, suicide...and those are just the ones we have words for. Have the men and women we know as heroes made the situation better or worse? Here's a hint: In the Ruins, radiation only kills.
Collecting RUINS #1-2.

Well it's $4.99 so I guess it is. I'll flip through it at the store.

Posted by conor on 01/19/09 at 05:30 PMIs Jimski picking this up? ;)
Posted by piscespaul on 01/19/09 at 05:49 PMSo this collects the whole thing? For only 5 bucks?
Hmm....might give it a shot if it's that cheap.
Posted by TheNextChampion on 01/19/09 at 05:55 PMI really liked this series back in the day. I actually read this before I read Marvels. I've been meaning to solicit the insight of the iFanboy trio on this title. I hope it gets some time in an upcoming show.

I'm warning you! This is the worst thing crafted by human hands! You will try to drink yourself to death Wednesday night. 26 of you, as of this writing, are about to walk into a trap. You are paying $5 to be punched in the soul.

Posted by Jimski on 01/19/09 at 07:38 PMI loved your bit on this book, Jimski. I almost want to read it just to see what could have jaded you so, but I would much rather enjoy my comic books.
Posted by BrianBaer on 01/19/09 at 08:19 PMI've been wanting to read this for a LONG time now and never got around to tracking down the back issues. Very excited to be getting them in one book for only 5 bucks. Ellis + "horrific events" = pick of the week.
Posted by comicdork37 on 01/19/09 at 09:59 PMAfter reading Jimski's review of this book, I (illegally) downloaded it and read it.
I don't think it's the worst thing ever written, but it's not particularly good. The story is mostly incoherent (though still easier to understand than Elektra) and the art is annoying. I think the idea was worthwhile, though.
Ultimately, though, it's not worth paying for. I'm glad I didn't. Thievery FTW.

I read this first time round. It made me feel dirty and ill but in a good way.
Posted by SamMorgan on 01/20/09 at 04:23 AM65 pulls?!
Do you have any idea what I could do with #325?
Posted by Jimski on 01/21/09 at 12:28 AM@jimski - What's #325?
Posted by SamMorgan on 01/21/09 at 06:23 AMI didn't like it the first time... I will certainly skip it this time.
Posted by Hawkboy on 01/21/09 at 01:58 PMWooo, can't wait to crack this open. What I find funny is that everything I hear explainging why people dislike this just makes me want to read it even more.
Posted by nindustrial on 01/22/09 at 11:01 PMYeah what's #325?
Posted by ActualButt on 01/23/09 at 03:15 PMDamn, Jimski was right. This was dreadful.
Posted by Urthona on 01/25/09 at 09:40 PMThis was miserable.
Posted by leonard on 01/26/09 at 10:31 AMThis was AWESOME!!! Some of the best Ellis I have ever read.

"Collecting Ruins #1-2"?
Is this a reprint of a book from back in the day?
