  1. I seriously hope that this series brings back dumb hulk! If it does then count me on board for as long as this book runs. I am sooo annoyed with level headed intelligent hulk that has been happening in every hulk series for the last few years.

    • Check out last week’s Avengers Assemble.

    • @CaseyJustice I was waiting for that series to come out in trade. Is he dumb angry hulk in that? If so that’s all the more reason for me to pick up that trade!

    • He’s pretty dumb.

    • Agree wholeheartedly, thompsonlive. I hate smart hulk. In fact, to me the perfect Hulk story involves the Leader making cool robots and monsters, Thunderbolt Ross trying to kill the Hulk, Betty and Rick scrambling, and then dumb Hulk frees himself from some sort of death trap and stomps everyone. Guilty pleasure.

Good writers should be able to work around the Hulk’s simplistic nature, and not need to turn him into Luke Cage or Doc Samson.

  2. Giving this a shot only because If anyone can make Hulk bad ass again it’s Mr. Waid.

  3. Hoping this Hulk will be like the Mark Rufallo version. I agree with thompsonlive. If you make hulk level-headed, the what use is there for Banner?

  4. Waid is gonna spin his magic and resurrect this book too.

  5. 3 of my 5 comics this week are written by Waid… I have the faith!

  6. Early reviews for this makes this sound really damn good. If Mark Waid can bring my interest in Hulk back around I’d love him even more.

  7. I like Mark Waid, but I’m just sticking with Red She-Hulk I think.

  8. In Waid we trust! The review by Paul Montgomery sold it for me. Looking forward to this and Captain America!

Now if only we could get Jennifer Walters back…

  9. i’ve never been a huge Yu fan, but i think his HULK looks pretty good.
i’ve really been wanting a great HULK book and i think Waid sounds like a good choice. He took DD in an awesome direction as the grinning swashbuckler returned and i think he can do something with HULK in the same vein. something fresh and engaging.
i like the idea of Hulk being blinded by rage at times, but i don’t want him to be a blithering idiot nor do i want him to sound like Kelsey Grammer. there has to be some balance. the Avengers movie seemed to pull it off. i wonder if this will be something like that.

  10. Looks good but I’m gonna have to trade wait.

  11. Never been a big Hulk fan, but I’m sampling this because I loved Yu’s awesome covers during Aaron’s run this year, and I want to see what Waid does.

  12. Good but not great like Thor last week and Captain America this week. Big fan of Waid especially his work on Daredevil a character I never really liked until now. it’s been a longtime since I’ve enjoyed a Hulk story but I think this is very promising.

  13. Never read a Hulk book before, but, holy shit, this was fantastic. This Mark Waid guy, he seems like a promising up and comer.

  14. I read a couple of Jason Aaron’s Hulk issues and tried this one mainly because of Mark Waid and what he is doing on DD. After I had finished it, I realized that I couldn’t care less about Hulk and Banner. Sry Mr. Waid

  15. Finally, a Hulk book with which I can get on board.

  16. I got this, haven’t read it, I like Yu but the colors on the covers are a bit too muted in my opinion. I suspect the book is that way. I love Sunny Gho’s subtler palettes, but I think this could be, lol, brighter. Still can’t wait to read it, all around great team on it.

  17. I love Waid, but this was fairly basic. A by the numbers first issue. The art was dissapointing. I’ll stick around for Waid though.

  18. I wasn’t interested in this book but just decided to give it a shot anyway…and I really liked it. Art was good and the premise of the story has me hooked. Will pick up #2.

  19. Great start! Im in possibly for the long haul based off the premise of this book alone.

  20. I’m all for “great stories” but the Hulk is everywhere in the Marvel U and he’s a different person in each. I REALLY liked the Hulk run that just finished. It was the first time in a lifetime of reading comics I looked forward to a Hulk book that wasn’t part of a crossover. This could be interesting, but Dr. Banner changes motivation and personalities more than Legion from the X-Men.

  21. I actually liked the book more than I liked the new Captain America book. Normally I do not really care for the Hulk too much, this just looked to interesting to skip. Plus, Mark Waid is “killing it” over on DareDevil so I am willing to try out anything he does at this point. Though, I really did not like his run on the Flash post Geoff Johns.

  22. i enjoyed this.
i really like this side of Banner. in the past, i’ve found him to be bland. that might be the key to the success of this book. making Banner cool.
    Yu’s art was…acceptable.
i’ll check out issue 2. but it’ll be highly scrutinized under a microscope and dissected at every turn. if i start disliking it, i won’t give it five issues in the hope of recapturing my interests.

  23. I picked this up but didn’t have high expectations since I haven’t really enjoyed any hulk books since Planet Hulk. However, after reading it I was pretty happy with the route Waid is taken it. I’ll keep reading this one as long as Waid is involved.

  24. Pretty good start. I didnt read Jason Aaron’s run so I wasnt aware that Hulk and Banner shared the same body again.

  25. Anybody else’s Hulk come with Captain America inserted after the third page?
