HAWKEYE #11

• THE breakout character of 2012. . . becomes the breakout character of 2013. . . as PIZZA DOG gets his own issue.

• Literally. . . the entire issue. . . it’s all from the dog’s point-of-view.

• Pizza Dog gets hired to solve a crime — the grizzly murder that shocked Team Hawkguy — and the only thing more shocking than THAT. . . is what happens the end of THIS.

• Seriously. This is not a joke! Even the coloring. Dog issue. We’re all gettin’ fired. PLEASE READ. . . ‘Pizza is my Business’ . . .before it’s too late for us.

  1. this is how good David Aja is, he can draw a book about something named PIZZA DOG and I’m excited

  2. Aja is back! All is right with the world!

  3. Still amazed that there’s a killer Hawkeye comic book.

The 12 year-old me feels entirely vindicated.

this looks great and love that they’ve even got the creative team listed as Ruff, Ruff, Ruff on the cover.

  5. David Aja has a way with page layouts. Each page just impresses me more and more.

  6. Love this book but its been almost 2 months since the last issue.

  7. I am passing on this issue, but only because I’m waiting to get it in the second TPB. Although the first issue I read, number 8, didn’t blow me away, I did finally pick up the first TPB (after looking at it about ten times) and loved it, so I will be adding this book to my pull list after this issue.

This issue sounds super damn crazy fun!

  8. Pizza Dog!!! This issue is going to be awesome.

  9. Can’t wait!

  10. JML (@twitter.com/JoshMLabelle) says:

This is my most hotly anticipated comic book issue of the year. July through December comics can pack it in.

  11. The wait is nearly over!

  12. This may actually have been more anticipated than Superman Unchained. Pizza Dog is my hero.

  13. What’s the rule with Pizza Dog delivery?

If it takes two months isn’t it free?

  14. I’m kind of unreasonably in love with Dogs so I loved this. Kind of mad Kate stole Lucky from Clint though.

  15. This was good but not amazing. Aja really did a bang up job.

  16. Matt said Kate was getting a cat while at Heroescon so really shocked by the ending. That was just wrong.

  17. Such a smart, creative, enjoyable book, and this issue was no different. Aja is a master! Lucky’s acting was perfect. Loved the symbols and design of the pages, and was surprised there was so much story and plot development in what was pretty much a silent issue. Once again reminds the reader what a comic book can do.

I’ve not read any of Hawkeye. I plan on getting the trades as it certainly looks good. But this issue sounds like something special shall I wait or would I be okay reading this completely blind to the previous 10 issues?

    • If this issue is your first time with Hawkeye, I think you’ll appreciate the ingenuity on display here. But If you read some older issues before this, I think it will enhance your emotional connection to the story.

My vote? Get caught up, then read this.

    • I agree with Ken. While you could pick this up and enjoy it (on many levels), it plays off earlier issues (the previous issue in particular) with very little explanation. It is literally from the dog’s perspective the whole way through, and it would make a ton more sense if you knew how “Pizza Dog” got involved with Clint in the first place. Do yourself a solid and pick up the first trade (and last issue if you wanted to jump right ahead to this story). Odds are you’ll smile ear to ear the entire time you read it and will probably want the rest of the issues immediately. It’s a good time.

    • If you are a dog or animal lover in anyway you need to pick this up.

  19. This issue will likely be nominated for an Eisner. This was brilliantly done.

  20. Pizza Dog
    Pizza Dog
    America’s No. 1 Pizza Dog
    Solves a Crime, Any Time
    He’s Pizza Dog!

  21. OK, I feel real stupid, but I’m stumped…..

    SPOILER!!!!

How did Pizza Dog survive the fall when they toppled off roof, and why sitting in apartment afterward with killer and bald bro as if they are all perfectly fine being in same room? Thought it was indicating a dream, but injuries present and sneaker found by Clint on ground.

Why do I feel so dumb?

    • You are not the only one.

I loved this issue but I finished feeling like I only picked up on about half of what the creators had put into the issue.
I need to read it again.

  22. Awesome issue, I found myself taking more time to enjoy the issue as I normally do. Part of it was I wanted to analyze every panel and understand what Pizza Dog was seeing/smelling/sensing. I think it would be cool to do the same issue now from Clint’s point of view. Show the funeral etc. And then Clint coming back and finding pizza dog etc. Plus I want to hear the entire conversations between Kate and Clint.
