Red Robin #2

So excited for this book. Can't wait till Wednesday!!!

The first issue was so good.  I think Red Robin will be the the 2nd best new batbook.  Detective is #1

Didn't think I'd ever be reading a Robin book.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I really wanted to read a Robin book about Tim Drake.  It probably hasn't been since the R.I.P. tie-ins.

This looks better then Winick's Batman too.

Not too impressed with this title. Anyone catch the editorial error in the first issue "Prague, Czechloslovakia." Prague is in the Czech Republic.

Did Tim age a couple years in the last couple months?  The right side of the image looks like a totally different person.  But maybe it will be explained inside

The first issue of this was awesome, I cant wait to see where the story goes from there.

This is the book im looking forward to most with it being a slow week and Im not the biggest GL fan, hopefully all the books will be good this week to make up for the small amount of them.

Was going to drop the book after issue one but I'm having a very light week so what the hell!

Also, the art looks improved on this issue. Have they got a new inker?

I'm just bummed that they cancelled the original series.  I've been a fan since the limited series were coming out and had every issue of the last series.  With comics only lasting 20-30 issues nowadays, to have Robin in the high 100's was kind of a feat.  Oh well.  C'est la vie, right?  When in Rome?

Anyone else have the red robin restaurant chain theme stuck in their head?  Reeeeed Robin, hummmmmmmmm

I could really do with not having Ra's involved though. I was hoping his ressurection storyline had put him on the shelf for awhile. Oh well I guess with 25 bat books you have to pull out just about every villain to give someone to fight.

I'm picking this up, but I'm trying to decide if I'd rather just wait for the trade.  You know, because DC is so good at putting out their trades.

@Zattaric: I'm still waiting for the final Robin trade to be released (mid-August.) That's about 6 months between the final issue ad the trade.

Good first issue, and I don't see how thisll tie into the other batbooks so I may wait for the trade... Thisll be the desider

One journey ends, but a far deadlier one begins as Red Robin learns the truth – although he may not survive to tell anyone, because back in Gotham City, Red Robin faces off with the one man who could stop his quest: Batman!

pretty solid issue. I was nervous for the first part that it wouldn't go in the direction i was hoping for, but it totally did. Great cliffhanger.

Not as good as the first issue, but still an excellent 4/5. I felt like the middle of the book was the weakest part, but the bookends were strong and that cliffhanger is great.

I am on the fence with this title.  It hasn't done anything new or really exciting.  But at least Ras was colored correctly in this one.

I only gave this a 2.  I'll stick with it for a few more, but no. 2 left me blue:(

Oh my. That was a struggle to slog through. 2/5 for me. Definitely the weakest book I read this week. Just... boring. I'm going to stick out this story arc and the drop the book. The Bat-relaunch claims its first victim. ;-)

As well, did anyone else notice/was bothered by the weird color palette shifts? Page 3 suddenly has a different set of colors (lighter) than the surrounding pages. It was incongruous and off-putting. Page 11 also had the same problem.

@Prax I don't even think I'm anywhere near that level of scrutiny on comics yet.  After all, I've only been reading for 1 1/2 years.

I loved this book. I can't wait to see more of what happened after BFTC! Tim is on a dark and dangerous path that could lead him to become a villain, OR Tim has this all planned out (like his battle with Lady Shiva.) I'm really excited to see where the next few issues goes with Ra's. 

I also want to know why Mr. Fox was looking for Tim so badly? Is Tim Drake Wayne the heir to Wayne Industries?

Dick takes over for Batman while Tim takes over for Bruce?

Those few panels with Mr. Fox had me thinking about what the future holds/held for Tim Drake Wayne. 

I thought it was a good read, 4/5 for me. You just know Ra's is setting Tim up.

@STM:  Interesting questions about Fox.  I can't believe that I did not think about that at all.  Who does get ownership now?  Very interesting question...

I also wonder how the media is handling the whole situation. Wouldn't magazines like US WEEKLY and PEOPLE and TIME be all over something like the death of a billionaire. Especially a billionaire that had no true heir. I could even see tabloids publishing fake stories about Tim and Dick fighting one another for who gets how much. 

You have these two adopted sons that everyone knows about. The media should be flocking all over them trying to get pictures and interviews. How can Tim and Dick go about their costumed crime fighting if the media is constantly following them?

Really just look to the death of Michael Jackson and how the media is swarming his family for pictures and stories. People are still in the lives of Sonny Bono's daughter (now a son since the sex change.) People are still in the lives of the Beetles members and their families and that band broke up about 40 years ago!

@supertrackmonkey - The story is that Final Crisis was such an Earth shattering ordeal, along with the presumed death of Batman, that Bruce Wayne missing is less of a big deal. Also Bruce's death was not well publicized by his family, so as to not draw a connection to Batman's death.

@superteackmonkey Plus, Hush was traveling around with Bruce's face for a while, inadvertently keeping up the mystique of Bruce not having died the same time as Batman.

But the media would still be all over the death of Bruce Wayne once they found out, doesn't matter when Batman died. Or if it was well publicized by the family, that should have credence what-so-ever. When someone that big or powerful dies, the media is all over the family members, no matter how much the family (family members) want(s) it or not.

The Hush thing does delay the timing from Batman's death (as well as the videos Tim, Alfred, and Dick were releasing to the media of Bruce in foreign countries.) But that still does stop the media from covering Bruce's death and the lives of his family members.

Wait a minute. But there is a tombstone with his name on it. To be officially dead, you need a certificate of death to be turned in (IRS and other government agencies need them.) Does anyone have some clarification on this?

This was absolutely spectacular. I liked the last issue, but this was really something else.

@superteackmonkey - Bruce Wayne was buried in an unmarked grave. It was in Blackest Night #0.

At first, I wasn't at all happy with this idea but it's been done so well I'm really beginning to enjoy it.  Out of the all the new Bat stories I've read of the titles, this is the best at the moment.

Enjoyed this much more than the first issue. Why? I'm not sure.
