@drakedangerz That's waht I was thinking...
Posted by magnum240 on 10/12/09 at 05:49 PMI liked the point that Conor made during one of the podcasts at how logical it was that Batman and Robin were the most tactical in dealing with the zombies. I've been enjoying this mini and the Superman one just as much as the main book
Posted by cutty on 10/12/09 at 05:53 PM@cutty Same with me
Posted by vadamowens on 10/12/09 at 06:07 PMman, dead zombie parents are so embrassessing
Posted by edward on 10/12/09 at 06:09 PMThey got buried in their costumes, really? Man, that is unfortunate. I would be pissed too!
Posted by MisterJ on 10/12/09 at 07:15 PMand not a wrinkle on them. i want the name of that tailor
Posted by peterporker on 10/12/09 at 07:24 PMCool. Not so much of a fan of last issue, but still enjoying it. Bring it on.
Posted by PraxJarvin on 10/12/09 at 08:35 PMhas really been a good mini. First read through of #2 and i thought i was done, but when i really sat down for the second read i think it was my POTW that week (but i already made a pic)
Posted by Fvckstick on 10/12/09 at 10:18 PMWoot! Lovin the tie-ins.
Posted by gnanniv on 10/12/09 at 11:38 PMThis really needs to be better than #2.
Posted by stuclach on 10/13/09 at 09:08 AMThis has been my favorite Blackest Night mini. I'll read this or Adventure Comics first.
Posted by JesTr on 10/13/09 at 09:49 AMAgreed, the BN tie-ins I've read (Batman, Superman and Tales of the Corps) have all been pretty good. Last issue was really good and indicative of how well Tomasi writes Dick Grayson.
Posted by JMS74 on 10/13/09 at 11:20 AMThat was fun. I would have loved to have seen how Bruce would have handled a situation like that.
Posted by stuclach on 10/14/09 at 05:23 PMIt was pretty good with a sensable conclusion...I just didnt seem to care for the secondary characters of this, like Deadman or Etrigan.
Posted by comicBOOKchris on 10/14/09 at 06:58 PMWasn't too fond of this.
Posted by Jim on 10/14/09 at 08:46 PMI really enjoyed up until the lanterns turned on Dick and Tim. Up until that, amazing book. Great characterization and real emotional impact. Then Tomasi had to wrap it up fast...
Posted by drakedangerz on 10/14/09 at 10:34 PM"The other Robin!"
Posted by acopeland on 10/15/09 at 12:01 AMwow the black latterns built an entire stage to just mentally toture dick and Tim?
That's a lot of work...
Posted by yamamoto on 10/15/09 at 12:08 AMI was kinda hoping this mini would've had a moment with Tim saying something about Bruce being alive, Dick saying he isn't, and Tim coming back with the fact that there's no zombie Bruce.
Great mini though. Loved the "other Robin" moments in this issue.
Posted by Slockhart on 10/15/09 at 12:56 AMAnything with Etrigan is a win for me. I wish he and Deadman had their own books.
Posted by Mustbedamned on 10/15/09 at 02:45 AMI liked this & liked the art a lot, but the ending was kinda unclear. What exactly happened? *SPOILERS* All the Black Lanterns followed Etrigan & flew up & he "killed" them all? If that's what happened, why did they lose interest in Dick (that's what she said) & Tim & follow Etrigan ... & why was the BBQ off-panel??
Posted by WadeWilson on 10/15/09 at 04:10 AMI agree that the Black Lanterns constructing an entire stage was a bit ridiculous. Other than that though, it was a good issue. I liked Etrigan's appearance and how Dick and Tim avoided the Black Lanterns.
Posted by ProjectX2 on 10/15/09 at 05:51 AM@WadeWilson: Tim and Dick froze themselves therefore stopping their heartbeats so the Black Lanterns couldn't see them.
Posted by Mustbedamned on 10/15/09 at 07:09 AMI think it has been established (in the last issue of BN) that Black Lanterns can't track you if you aren't exhibiting emotion. By freezing themselves they (apparently) stopped their emotional thought, thus becoming invisible to the Black Lanterns. Seems a little far fetched (in a book about zombie superheroes), but the rest of the issue was solid enough that I didn't mind.
@Slockhart - I've been wondering the same thing. How can anyone deny that Bruce is alive if his Black Lantern reincarnation hasn't shown up?
Posted by stuclach on 10/15/09 at 07:52 AMgreat minds think alike. I've been waiting for Bruce to show up. Wonder if they'll do anything with that.
Posted by vadamowens on 10/15/09 at 10:08 AM@slockhart @ stulach Remember that the Black Hand is wandering around with Bruce's skull. I"m sure it's going to come into play somehow.
Btw - non-rhyming Etrigan = fail
Posted by Notahiro on 10/15/09 at 11:33 AM@Notahiro-He wasn't rhyming because Deadman took over the body. But once he jumped out, there was rhyming to be heard. If only a few lines.
Posted by drakedangerz on 10/15/09 at 12:16 PMBetween this mini and Wednesday Comics, I am ready for more Deadman.
Posted by s73v3r on 10/15/09 at 04:52 PMI think this is the weakest of the side minis but I enjoy it for the most part.
It seems Etrigan is another on the list of unknowns.
Posted by theegreatone on 10/16/09 at 01:03 AMThanks to @Mustbedamned & @stuclach for clearing that up. That makes sense. But I was right about Etrigan killing all the BL's off-panel, right? Why wasn't it shown (if I'm right)? To confuse feeble minded fools like me?
Posted by WadeWilson on 10/16/09 at 03:38 AM@Wade: I had to pick up the book again and look. They couldn't pick up emotion so they all just flew away. Etrigan has no heart so he just took off as well.
Posted by Mustbedamned on 10/16/09 at 09:53 AM@WadeWilson - I don't think Etrigan can kill BLs. It is supposed to take a shot from multiple colors/emotions to destroy them (I think), so he couldn't have killed them.
Posted by stuclach on 10/16/09 at 12:15 PM@stulach: Thanx for clearing up why they freezed theirselves but what happened to the BN Graysons and Drakes? Did they just leave or what?
Posted by robbydzwonar on 10/16/09 at 10:02 PMThat's what it looks like. Maybe they went to the BL homeworld, or where the other BL's need help.
Posted by s73v3r on 10/17/09 at 01:54 AMI rather enjoyed this. More than I really expected to. I gave it a 5/5. I think Tomasi nailed the characterizations, Daimian felt a bit "safe" but it came off quite well. I caught a weird grammar typo that word should have even picked up. Which means Tomasi books are 2/2 on Typos this week. Yeah, there were some jumps in logic, some convenient situations and what not, but I read it with a sense of "This is much cooled than I ever expected this mini to be." It's nice to be pleasantly surprised by a tie-in mini and not. Also, there was wonderful art in this issue. The first appearance of Etrigan, the trapeze work, and what not.
@vadamowens Bruce's skull is currently in the hands of Black Hand. He's not appearing as a Zombie anytime soon. I think we can safely bill him as Sir Not Appearing in This Crossover.
@wade_Wilson, robby, others: The BLs cannot be killed by conventional means (Even Etrigan's Hellfire) they can only be killed by two or more Lantern Corps lights combined. They flew off because they could no longer register Dick and Tim on the emotional spectrum and they have to gather more hearts to power up the BL Central Power Battery.
Posted by PraxJarvin on 10/17/09 at 02:12 AM@yamamoto
I don't think the BLs built a set physically, I think they constructed it out of Black Lantern light. It was mostly colored with grey tones.
I really, really enjoyed this issue.
Posted by captbastrd on 10/17/09 at 03:48 PMYup, just finished this one, loved every second.
My assumption is that without specific targets who would respond to those specific dead bodies, the rings 'dissolved' the bodies of the Graysons, the Drakes etc, and returned to space in ring-only form? Only problem with that is where the bodies went?
Not a big enough niggle to detract from what was otherwise a well-paced and written issue.
Posted by Selfstyler on 10/18/09 at 01:12 PMBL: Batman has been the most enjoyable of Blackest Night so far. A Well written, and paced series. I especially liked batman and RObin torchin Black Lanterns with flamethrowers. Fantastic!
Posted by dirtyharry2030 on 10/19/09 at 09:02 AMI loved the "no the other Robin" banter. Great end to a great mini. 5/5 for Art, 4/5 for Story and 5/5 for Issue 3's cover.

Curious how Tomasi will wrap this up in one issue. Great cover.
